It comes with a remote, which now that I have used it I would highly recommend a deck with a remote. I velco'd mine to the center console so I don't have to reach forward to change the station etc. The usb on the front totally rules too!
My 2cents....I got it from A&B Sound.
That is the same one I have. I bought the floor model from Future Schlock and paid $150 for it, plus an extra 10% off! I also bought the wiring adapter from them and instead of soldering the adapter to the wiring harness, I dismantled it and installed the pins and plugs directly to the harness.
I didn't know that it was bluetooth capable, I should check on "that site" and see how much the adaptors are selling for.
It's your mobile phone that needs to be bluetooth capable. The idea is you get a call and your phone 'talks' to the stereo and you talk back - sort of an expensive way to go handsfree in your vehicle. Depending on the model of stereo, it can store numbers, names, contact information, etc. Frankly, my phone does all of that so I don't see why my stereo has to be able to do it too.
Never seen this system before, looks nice AND very different then everything else (just like a Delica). Like it! Did you end up paying $400 as per your link? Can you control your ipod through your radio or control your radio via the ipod? Well done anyway, always nice to see something different...
Thanks!! No - didn't pay $400 for the deck ($299 after some dealing) and with new 150 W speakers all around I was into it for more than that - but the sound quality was worth it. I was itching to get rid of the circa 1999 Japanese carrozzeria deck/TV... I saw one of these Clarion systems on ebay for $209, but am always a little suspicious of car audio on that site... The iPod links directly in via the usb charger. No radio control through iPod, and the Clarion takes the user setting directly from the iPod, so if random selection is on, that's what plays through the stereo. Can plug anything into it through the USB - jump drives, portable hard discs, laptops...This unit is way different than anything I have seen, which is what drew me to it.
For those of you that have done the front passenger side. It looks to me in the mirror like there is a faceplate mounted to the dash with 4 philips screws (#3 perhaps?), then the speaker is held onto the faceplate with 2 nuts. When you took it out, did you just remove the nuts and slide the speaker off, or did you undo the screws? I've tried both but can't seem to get a socket over the nuts, and can't get a short handled screwdriver onto the screws so that I can get them loose.
I'm wondering how hard it would be to pull that part of the dash off as an alternative.
I bought speakers this week and I as I had previously read to post I thought I remembered it saying you could use 4X6 speakers in the rear, so that's what I bought, along with the 4" for the front. Now when I re-read this post it actually said you can use 6X9 speakers if you cut some plastic. How did the 6X9 installation actualy go in the end?
JMK - I ended up returning my 6x9 speakers and picked up the standard 5.25" round speakers. I saw a post on the UK site that involved a tip to tape two hacksaw blades together to lengthen the slits in the plastic which covers the speakers (for 6x9s). I think this person had to also fabricate a bracket to hold the larger speaker in place, and he took care to not have things rattle once he put it back together. I'm all for fun weekend van projects but this one seemed too involved for my tastes. I opted for the quicker and easier option of sticking to the regular speaker size.
If you're using an amplifier you could go for the component speaker route for a clearer sound-- I think I remember somebody on this forum taking that route. They drilled a hole for the tweeter.
As for the front passenger 4" . . . it was a pain in the arse! I used a dental mirror, headlamp, and one of those flexible spring-like socket wrenches. 5/16 was the right size for me, and once the nuts were off the speaker slid right off. It was frustrating bashing my knuckles but I was thankful to only remove the glove box. Good luck!
What a hoot, there I was with the Dental Mirror and Headlamp, just missing the flex ratchet. I was trying metric, no luck, also seems like you need a deep socket to reach the nut. I wonder if my dentist would help out, getting that speaker out does resemble pulling a tooth and it is every bit as painful!
I was also staring at the 5.25" speakers on the shelf and bought the 4X6 instead like an idiot. I haven't got to the back yet, do you think the 4X6 would be an easy fit, or, as I haven;t opened them yet, should I return them and get the 5.25" ones?
get as big as you can, i got 5 n half and they are not loud enough.make sure that when your done with verything you tighten it all up ,other wise you will get an anoyying ass vibrating niose with all bass.I spend 600+ on speakers and i still had to splize the wire and put in an extra. i got my moms like 1980 huge house speaker, has a mid tweeter and 10 inch sub in it.it does good with filling the deli with sound made me happier with my wiast of 600

Lots of the panels on the Delica seem to rattle and buzz . . . but I think I have a solution for the bass-buzz you might be hearing. If you install a sub woofer and your deck can control the sub separately, you can turn down the bass to your installed speakers and let their mid and high frequencies shine through. Let the sub and it's tight box handle all the low frequency. I got a 10" Kenwood with a 200w amp in a slim box from Best Buy for $150 (open box) but it retails for $200 on sale. This amp comes with a sub remote which is great if your deck can't control the sub.
This is the setup I'm going for, and I'm far from an audiophile. You can check out photos of my cheap 180w 5.25" speakers being installed at this post: http://www.delica.ca/forum/rear-speaker ... -2522.html
I was shocked by how rich the new speakers sound. Going from 7w to 180w was a good move.
My thoughts on this: I went with the stock 5 1/4 replacement in the rear and some kenwood 4" stock replacements in front. No amp but the Sony deck is reasonably powered. Having said that you really have to push the rears to get decent and balanced sound to the front. If low, the 4" fronts are pretty crappy. Some 5 1/4 two ways in the doors would be a big improvement and-or a slim sub as mentioned above would be a worthwhile investment if you've gone far enough to replace the stock system to this point. I bought a Sony deck w/ ipod cable. The dedicated cable is nice 'cause it give you full control over the ipod, and displays on the deck, plus it charges the thing at the same time. I think I'll go for the sub.
delica 304 we should start an auction thread for it. Maybe a new Delica Auction Forum no less. Why let eBay have all the fun?
Anyway, how does the wiring harness you have with the Clarion dovetail with existing Delica stereo wiring, does it interface with the factory connectors or something? For example, mine came with an aftermarket CD Player so not sure what would be in there.
I bought the wiring adaptor, gutted it and put the bits and peices directly onto the Clarion harness. Call me lazy, but I didn't feel like soldering! (In fact it probably took longer to do it the way I did) Essentially the Clarion unit connects directly to the factory harness.
Hm, I should put the radio up for grabs in parts section, shouldn't I??
