There is a message earlier in this thread about the buzzer sounding when on veg whether the van was on or not, and it seemed the poster thought that was a problem...
Actually, It is supposed to do sound, if left on veg, when you turn off the van; that's the idea of it. you are thereby warned to restart the engine while it is still warm, do the purge on diesel fuel, and then shut off the engine again.

Using the cheapo vice grips I picked up from CDN Tire (5 for $10), I clamped the coolant line so that I had enough room to comfortably install a tee.

No I don't. Not sure if I ever figured it out, or if it matters. My VegMax filter heated up nice and hot, I never had to trouble shoot it.
