I have seen the $19k Delica in question and while not a bad truck for sure, possibly a little OTT price wise... it's very similar to a truck we just delivered for $10,500. 8-)

The High end units in Japan and fetching big money, I remember the first delica we sold nearly three years ago know for $7000 in BC for a Super Exceed High Roof, done 80k's... Before the government got involved and RO/RO shipping was always available...

All of this is very nice, and good info for sure. But the most important point is whether or not that specific dealer can get the $19,000 they are asking (or close). At the end of the day, it's just simple economics and that price may or may not be workable in reality. These vehicles are damn popular - and appear to be getting even more so as the auction prices have indicated (for reasonable quality models). As long as the supply of them is not overly abundant, and people continue to be interested, I think it's safe to say that officially posted sale prices will increase regardless of what the actual costs are or are not. I personally don't understand the point of tearing apart a legitimate business's prices for these vehicles. If I could find a way of importing at $12,000 and selling for $19,000 - then of course I would do it - there is no shame in that at all - it is just business and profit is what makes business function, otherwise who the hell would be in business at all. The onus is on the business owner to make profit, and the onus is on the consumer to try and get a reasonable price - end of story as far as I see it. Let the market be the market.
Just my $.02.
