sunshade repair "how-to"

I just have to say thanks for the "how to" on the sunshade repair! I never would have been able to sort any of it out without reading this first! I used some steel strapping, snips, and a few sets of pliers and got most of it done......... Although it took me abut 6 hours of farting around and some swearing. For me this job was the equivalent of myself landing on the moon!

I also picked up all my supplies for curtains, as well as manufactured some clips to hang them from. As soon as my girlfriend does some sewing work for me all 5 rear windows and the opening between the drivers area and rear seating area will be cut off from any light getting through!

Thanks for looking into it. Surprisingly, it is next to impossible to find any info about fixing the L400 shades on this site or the DelicaClub forum. If you hear (or see) anything, please let us know.

there was no information on fixing L300 shades either until I did mine...

but I can hope that the lack of info on L400 shades is because it is a rare problem...

may I ask what symptoms your shades have? (stuck open? or closed? can you move them manually? 1 shade? all the shades? when you press the switch do you hear a motor trying to work? if you look at the leading edge of the shade, and to the sides, do you see the clips? and are they intact?)

Suggest joining and searching the Australian club forum as they have a lot of L400 experience. Maybe the UK club as well.

Yes, mine is permanently closed. Will have a look to get some more details for you tomorrow.

And yes, I've checked out the UK site, but surprisingly, there is little chatter about Crystal Lite roof. Perhaps the high roof with Crystal Lite is not popular there? I'll have to check out the Australia site.

It seems that what we call "shades" or "sunshades", they call "roof blinds"

My problem is similar. I have one permanently closed crystal lite shade, at the back of my L400.

Here's the funny thing: the motor is definitely working - or at least it is making a noise. It also seems to be trying to pull the shade, as the shade does seem to move ever-so-slightly (but never opening), if you press the "open" button.

So I'm guessing that something is jammed or stuck. Unfortunately, I wouldn't know where to start in terms of addressing this, and I'm too scared to ruin the shade by pulling or prying at it too aggressively.

One of my blinds wont close entirely, all open all the way but when closing, one blind stops about one inch before full close.
Any ideas?
