Re: aircare

Post by dmg »

I just did my first Delica aircare this November.

When we pulled up they asked me what kind of truck it was and said they "couldn't find one like it in the computer and mine was their first Delica".

Although suspicious I let them continue with the test. The twit that drove the test must have pushed the peddle to the mat. The front wheels climbed right up and almost over the wheel chocks and the engine screamed. When he realized he was about to launch himself, and my truck, right out of the test bay he hit brakes and the Delica thumped back into place. The second acceleration was decidedly more delicate.

To make a long story short the Delica passed but the twit had the nerve to tell me I had received a below average rating for my type of vehicle. If mine really was the first and couldn't be found in the computer how did they calculate an average?

The final insult was when we noticed they had the engine displacement wrong.

On a positive note - CVI is second to none when it comes to these little trucks. If you are still having trouble it is worth a drive to Richmond to visit them.

Hi, DMG, is right at one point that maybe the guy who did put your delica in the system has worn description.
pls check if this has the ff when you see aircare again.
category will be truck or mini van.
2.5 liter direct injection not electronic injection,
4 cyl 2500cc. not all wheel drive. its a selectable 4wd. as they have diff way of doing testing if you tell them allwheel drive.
pls just tell them selectable 4wd. it make a diff the way they test it. just tell them to make is short put it in thru 2wd. as this vehicle always do 2wd instead of 4wd all the time. i talk to richmond station aircare station they say 2wd is o.k. as this vehicle used it all the time. 4wd is only part time. hope this help you & will pass aircare .
cheers;
Mardy

I haven't taken a delica through, but I've taken a pajero through. It passed easily, but the person had no idea how to drive it. From what I heard, I'm guessing at times the revs were up past 4000 rpms.

The AirCare people I went to (East Vancouver, on Charles Street) knew exactly what to do with Gumdrop. They even knew where to find the serial number.

There is a simulated passing segment in the D147 profile, so it's not surprising they would have some serious RPM during the test. In foot-to-the-floor acceleration the transmission redlines the engine in each gear before shifting up.
