this summer...most driving done on relative flats...as a commuter...my wife is averaging around 29mpg....when we head to Van. or anywhere else out of the valley bottom, we drop to about 24mpg...and in the worst conditions we have found, we rode out at about 20 to 22 mpg...

In winter these averages all seemed to be consistently about 4mpg less...not as good on fuel in the cold...as well as the changes they make to the fuel itself I suppose...anyhow...those are our stats thus far...and I might add that my wife is religious about crunching the numbers...so our digits are pretty accurate for our vehicle.

yes, but a football can't make toast!

All kidding aside, it's not a horrible analogy either, if we wanted something who's main selling point was aerodynamics and fuel economy we'd be driving kei class sports cars... but they can't seat 7 people plus gear, drive up a rough cut line, tow a trailer, or any of the numerous things that Delicas are good at.

It's all about getting the vehicle that best suits our needs, for me that's the Delica, even if it's not quite as fuel efficient as I might like, it's still more fuel efficient than any north american vehicle with even remotely similar abilities.

With all this math and unit conversions, I'm surprised people are quoting how quickly in parsecs they are able to travel!

And for more semantics, the diesel L300 doesn't consume ANY gasoline, so that would mean it has an infinite range...


or from a different perspective, it is unable to move at all because it won't function with gasoline in the system...

averaging 29mpg = 8L per 100 km = 937 km per tank (75L auto)

van/valley driving 24mpg = 9.8L per 100 km = 765 km per tank (75L auto)

worst 20mpg = 11.7L per 100 km = 640 km per tank (75L auto)

I have to say getting over 900 km per tank in an auto has to be a record. If you are averaging that on flats, let me in on the secret !
