Good to know...mine was exact same as explosive abe.
Alt temp light only - and started right after some serious 4x4 in our recent snow blast in Van.
Serviced the tranny at CVI just to be safe...but still the light came on (it was due for service anyway). Fluid is clean and no burnt smell so I lived with the light on intermittently and unpredictably for a while (sometimes on at startup - often come on any other time without any relationship to load). Hasn't been on the last 2 weeks so have to believe I'm a victim of "condensation" which is apparently now gonzo!
Cheers to all!

Re: automatic tranny over heat light problem anyone?
Ya, in my case all three, the battery, fuel in water, and AT temp light, come on strong or faintly after start. After 30 seconds or so, they go out, everything fine. Yup, sounds like my alternator needs a rebuild. I gather that any shop that rebuilds alternators can do this. I should probably hurry up before it gives out entirely.ccautos wrote:If the alternator is going you would also see the battery light and fuel in water light . There are a lot of these sensors failing right now and it is a very quick and easy fix to replace the sensor with either a used or new one. Would hate to see Deli-owners running out and buying new alternators because their A/T overheat light is on !!!
Is it easy to up the amperage at the same time? I've got a Super Exceed with dual battery so if memory serves it is already 90 A, but it never hurts to have more.
Thanks in advance!

Re: automatic tranny over heat light problem anyone?
We just got our 1994 Delica Space Gear (L400) three months ago and have noticed a similar problem. The A/T light flashes from time to time with a definate period (once per second - not randomly). As mentioned previously this is supposed to indicate an overheating transmission. Like other posters, I suspected poor maintenance in Japan and so I changed *ALL* the fluids (seemed like a good idea anyway - considering it is a 15 year old vehicle with no service record). Unfortunately, that didn't fix the problem. Later we also noticed that the light only blinked with the interior (heating/AC) fan(s) on. In fact we can make the light blink sitting in our driveway by simply turning up both front and rear fans and turning on the interior lights. If we then step on the gas slightly, the blinking stops (presumably as the alternater kicks in - bumping up the voltage perhaps). So we suspected the battery and so replaced that with a slightly larger one (size 27 - up from 24; with 750CCA and 130RC). Unfortunately, that has not worked either. Next step will be to try replacing the sensor unit when we can find one.

Have you considered replacing the alternator (or even just the alternator belt)? this seems very likely to be your issue, the batteries shouldn't make any difference once the vehicle is running, however these lights are notorious for coming on when you have a weak alternator/voltage regulator.evensons wrote:We just got our 1994 Delica Space Gear (L400) three months ago and have noticed a similar problem.
