Moving to Quebec, convert to a LHD

Post by nicbazin »

Hello all,

I'm thinking that I might move back to Quebec. Apparently there is a new law that doesn't allow us to get a plate for a RH drive vehicule. Doe's that apply on Delica or just on small Japanese racing cars?

Other wise is there the option to convert the Delica L300 1993 High Roof to a LH drive? Where can I get info about the transformation.

Thanks

Simplest way is to trade it for a LHD coming out of Korea or Taiwan. The conversions are functional but not as good as an OEM-build.

Quebec's ban on registration is on ALL RHD, with a couple of exceptions that a Delica is unlikely to meet.

Salut Nic,

Sorry for this french reply, but my 'early-sathurday-morning-translating-brain' is not doing well today...

You may want to talk to these people...seems like there must be a way of getting around it.

All here know that RHD are banned in québec.
But Karim,at Silkroad, has allowed my cousin,
stradaquébec on this forum,to buy,to register and to ride with a beautiful 1995 black super exceed Spacegear,
everything in complete legality.incredible!

Karim is the best car seller that you can find. You can trust him all the way.If you buy from Silkroad,he will do anything to give you satisfaction.

Karim is a really good friend, even if he stay on the other side of the country.

So,POSITIVE for Silkroadautos.

Cheers.
L400Quebec wrote:Sure positive for Silkroad. I just got a L400 register here in Quebec porvince. The process of registering was so long because it all began in 2009. But Karim was 100% always cooperative with the issues that Quebec was asking during all this long process. And when you deal with Silkroad, the best thing is that Karim work for you to find the exact vehicule you want at the price you want. So in my case, I got a nice low milleage no rust L400 for affordable price. So my score for Silkroad is A+. Thanks Karim

Anyone knows where I can get a LHD Delica in good shape. It seems that I can't find any on the web. I'm almost ready to sell or trade my RHD, just to be able to be legal in Quebec when I gonna come back.

Thanks

Can anyone tell me what the current status is for RHD registration in Quebec? Sounds like it is a no-go for that province. :(

Vehicle has to be greater than 25 years old. Legislation specifically targets vehicles between 15-25 years old. There are exceptions for work vehicles, vehicles of a particular tonnage, but a personal vehicle is unlikely to meet those exceptions. Basically, you're SOL.

I'm thinking of living in Ottawa, but Quebec is also tempting across the river... that sucks. I'm assuming it is okay to drive across the water, but perhaps not.

The ban only pertains to registering a vehicle, not driving it.

I wonder if Mardy could find you one from the Philippines? Might be another option...

I'm selling Moon Unit - too much hassle if I live in Ontario, let alone Quebec - just put an ad up in the Delica Trader.
