Royal exceed radio

I will be picking up my 95 L400 Royal exceed lwb soon. Initially the seller was supposed to install a double DIN radio but now I am told that this is a lot more difficult and time consuming because of the karaoke machine. I enjoy vehicle wiring and do it all the time at work. I guess this will be my first project along with the espar diesel heater for the cold Manitoba winter.
My question is, why is it more difficult in this vehicle? Do you use a double DIN or a single radio? Is there a adapter available that fits the radio slot when using a single DIN?
I guess I will find out how good my relationship to my partner is when we drive back from Vancouver to Manitoba without a radio.

I have a single DIN that does more trix than the double DIN ~ and I get an additional storage pocket for things like sunglasses (because my future is bright) and other stuff.

There is a bigger selection of single din radios available for sure. I was also thinking that the free space below the radio could be used for additional switches etc.

The Royals have a different layout for the stereos than the other models of Delica's.
The Royals from memory have what looks to be a single din stereo, but I think is is different to that.

Is there a tape deck? I used a car kit ( which you can still buy

) for the first year and just hooked up my phone. When I finally switched I picked up this adapter "Scosche M102B" from Sonic Electronix which connected into the factory loom and then I wired that to my new double din. I personally liked how the double din filled the hole of the factory deck.

Where about in Manitoba are you? I would love to check out a Royal and compare to my Super Exceed.

Anyone ever figure out the radio swap while keeping Karaoke machine working question? I'm looking at the same issue wondering if I can handle it myself. Thanks.

I am not sure if anybody got the karaoke machine working. Personally i didnt care about it. I wanted a modern head unit with Bluetooth, usb and handsfree calling. My unit had an amp (?) under the driver seat but nothing under the passanger seat. Just a harness connector. My Alpine head unit fit the opening perfectly.

Yes, there is supposed to be a Panasonic 6-CD Changer under the passenger seat, connected via that round 13-pin plug.
My CD Changer never worked, though I haven't given up hope yet.

There is a cassette deck in the radio, but it's pretty smart at detecting "fake" cassettes like the adapter someone had mentioned.
One cheap cassette adapter I had didn't work but I bought a different brand somewhere and that one worked. I can plug my iPod or cellphone to it and play music that way. Newer versions of Android don't expect devices to connect through the earphone jack like that, it goes nuts when it's plugged in. It also tries to limit the max volume you push through, I think because regulations were passed in the US and in Europe to prevent teenagers from listening to music too loud on their iPods. (As often happens, because 1 person is irresponsible, 100 million have to be inconvenienced and nobody complains)

The fun part about the karaoke machine is that the person sitting behind the driver sometimes has more control over the audio system than the driver. My 10 year old thinks that's wonderful.

I bought mikes and the karaoke system works but there is no monitor to play karaoke CDs. Mitsubishi probably should have made the karaoke monitor standard in the PF8W. Maybe in Japan they were really common and so they didn't include them.
