Hot hubs

Post by josh »

Has anyone felt their rear hubs after driving? Mine are running hot. It does not seem to be linked with breaking, because I can drive on a flat simple drive and they are still hot. Also there is no shaking, so I doubt if the bearings are shot. Is it normal for the front hubs on a Delica to run hot?

Thanks yet again. Josh.

Hi Josh,

I am not a mechanic, but hot hubs could be dry wheel bearings or seized brakes. I had a Toyota van that ran hot at the back hubs too and it was a lack of grease in both of the hubs, seized brakes would likely only be hot in the wheel affected. I just checked mine after driving for 10 minutes up and down steep hills and all four brake area's were cool to the touch.

Friction=heat; get that looked at quickly.

Thanks Kev for the feedback on your deli's hubs,

I am going to see if they need some grease, it is defintely not the brakes. Soon I'll know the answer.
