Have been living in Ucluelet for the past 6 years and have had to make the difficult decision to move back to Ontario. Currently packing my wife and 3 kids into a Toyota Matrix. But due to the ridiculous costs of moving our stuff, we've decided to get rid of most of our things and get a larger vehicle - Enter the Delica! Wife and kids are flying home and I get to drive our new white 94 Super Exceed across Canada packed with our minimal stuff.
Based on the many excellent recommendations on this site I contacted Mardy at Amazing Auto Imports and was not disappointed. My experience with Mardy was top-notch. You can tell he really cares about providing a quality vehicle. To whit: just as he was finishing charging the A/C and I was about to leave, he noticed a little drop of oil near a seal. 4 hours later he let me drive home. Mardy went above and beyond - every time I figured he was finished, he would check and recheck - way more than I ever could have expected.
I drove the Delica home to Ucluelet through the mountain pass and over our very hilly and curvey roads and it ran like a dream. Lots of power, smoothly shifting, and not a trace of any problems.
I'll be heading east in mid November, challenging the weather, but honestly, after experiencing driving my machine, I can't imagine the weather will be much of an issue.
Many thanks too Mardy, Raymond, Edwin and Jason for all of their work and providing me with a great vehicle. Now if I can just get some Ontario insurance........

As a (soon to be) fellow resident of Ontario, with the hopes of buying and insuring a Delica in the near future, keep me (us) posted on your insurance progress. Things are not looking very good at the moment. I hope it works out for you! All the best on your journey across the country and welcome back to Ontario. I feel your pain coming back here after Ucluelet! OUCH! What area will you be living in?
Cheers,
Aaron

Hey Aaron, I will likely be headed to the London area. I checked with Desjardins before buying the Delica and was told that as long as I had an appraisal of the vehicle as well as some other paperwork from my current insurer (abstract?, driving record?) that they would insure me. The person I spoke with put me on hold while he asked the head underwriter and came back with that info. That was 2 weeks ago so hopefully I won't have any problems.

Well, I sure hope you're right. I don't know how to quote a post from a different thread, but "strada-caster" has posted in "Ontario Insurance Nightmare - No more RH Drives in Ontario" that "Desjardins is no longer accepting policies on RHD vehicles." But, from reading through a lot of "Ontario Insurance" threads on this forum and others, it sounds like it all depends on who you talk to within the company. (Which doesn't make any sense to me). Good luck and I'll be looking forward to hearing the results!
Cheers,
Aaron

Hello Wolfring,
here's an extensive post I wrote on how to get insured in Ontario
http://www.delica.ca/forum/moving-from- ... 10986.html
I'm currently insured with Desjardins and it's all good!
abstract?, driving record? Can be easily found with ICBC.

That will give us 1 White Starwagon Super Exceed (L300), and 1 White Spacegear Super Exceed (L400) here in London. Looking forward to seeing you around town.
Oh, and Craig from Bonsai Rides always has some sort of Delica in stock too
Good Luck with insurance. It's really not that difficult of a process. Just need a little luck.

Re: West Coast Delica Heading East
Just got back to Ontario 3 days ago. Delica was a dream on the drive back from BC. Handled the coquihalla no problem, just took it slow and steady. Once that engine warms up it was a beast, no hesitation, no lag, and it was fully loaded with our stuff. Gas mileage was decent, not really much different from when it's not weighed down although wind seemed to make a difference. I couldn't have been happier with it's performance. Now to head in to see Craig at Bonsai for an oil change and get it undercoated. Great trip!
