Re: Van trouble in Calgary

Hi Patton... Mardy is right! There is a small vac hose on the left hand side of your engine connected to the egr. All you need to do is to remove that hose from your egr and plug it. That's it. There is a vac solenoid actuating the egr valve and that is apparently malfunctioning. That will cause all...

Re: How much do you guys smoke and what grade of diesel ? MP

Diesel tests for air care only involves the opacity level....which is basically how much soot or unburned fuel is coming out of your exhaust... What the egr valve does or means is E -exhaust G - gas R - recirculation. EGR valve is actuated by vacuum controlled by a solenoid switch only on engine dec...

Definitely a glo plug issue. You have to take the connector off first and do what 'mystery' recommends on checking the glo plugs one at a time...

Re: L300 Erratic Temperature's

i would check the basics first....is your rad full of coolant? Is the coolant reservoir full as well? What is the condition of your rad cap...make sure the rubber seal isn't cracked up. Sudden temperature surges might just mean you are low on coolant.

Re: 4WD Not Disengaging.

Preventive maintenance suggestions....replace all your fluids every 2 years. ie. engine coolant, rear differential fluid, brake fluid. Transfer case and front differential fluid - I would check the condition first because unless you use your 4WD everytime, there's no need to replace that every two y...

Re: failing turbo?

Turbochargers will either be good or bad, nothing in between. Quick way to check it is to take off the air inlet hose (10mmor8mm clamp) and air filter cover (for L400) and you can see the turbo spinning right away. As turbos are very delicate piece of engineering work, it will only get damaged if it...

Re: crank pulley problems

Hi... Check the crankshaft key way housing for wear and ovality. Lots of times, when the bolt comes loose, the pulley starts wobbling on the shaft wearing that shaft quite a bit. If the shaft has worn down, there's no way you can put a new pulley and bolt without repairing or rebuiliding that cranks...
