Is that a problem?

Well I got one thing right. I told you there's some great people on here with excellent advice. And now you're seeing it firsthand. Both Growler & Falco have offered up excellent posts and help to everyone on here including myself!! And just to clarify, mine doesn't blow black smoke, but I don't liv...

Is that a problem?

Your L300 shouldn't be blowing out smoke. I have a 1993 L300 with 146,000 kms on the clock and it only blows a little bit of grey smoke when started up first thing on a cold morning, usually below 0 degrees Celsius. I'm not a mechanic, this is just how mine runs. And from everything I've read on her...

Timing & Balance Belt Part Numbers

Thanks for the link Growler. I'm going to print this off and share it with my mechanic. I have some stuff already printed on the 4D56 Engine, but I don't believe it's this detailed. This is well beyond my capabilities, but not for the person who might do it. When he worked in the trade before he sta...

Seized AC Compressor

Hello folks, Not even sure why I'm thinking about this as we just got a massive dumping of snow here in Southern Ontario last night. I think we're a long way off from spring and summer, but I find being hopeful helps. And with that I'm thinking summer and warm weather:) Last fall I had to cut the be...

Timing & Balance Belt Part Numbers

That's probably one of the best posts I've seen. I really dug into it this morning and it kinda scared me. There's no way I could do what Tojo did. But if you're just dealing with the timing belts, it doesn't seem so bad. Especially if you're doing the work anyway, lol. I'm going to show thi...

Timing & Balance Belt Part Numbers

Super, thanks Growlerbearnz. I was just out buying groceries and when I got home I decided to take a picture of that number you mentioned by the drivers seat. That was a good idea. I'll have a look at that link you posted. It's nice to know that all of this information is on here. I know you do your...

Timing & Balance Belt Part Numbers

Hello everyone, Been a while since I've been on the site, but spring is supposed to be on it's way. And with that comes summer road trips with my van. I've been getting around to fixing things that I've been neglecting. Last week my mechanic friend installed a new valve cover gasket. He said it was ...

Oil Around the Engine

Thanks akchaz,
I did see this thread and it looks like I'm gonna tackle this job next. I'm trying to find the part number for the OE Mitsubishi Valve Cover Gasket. I found the one for the little half moon piece that goes at the one end though.

Cheers, Phil

Oil Around the Engine

Hey sk66, That would make sense. I only noticed this while I had it up in the air on a lift. Everything looks good when you're looking at it from the top down. I'm wondering how difficult it is to replace this? My mechanically declined self seems to think it might not be all that hard. Anyway, thank...

I live in Peterborough, Ontario which is a little over an hour from Orillia. You can come check out my '93 L300 Super Exceed if you like. I'll be in Orillia this summer for the Mariposa Folk Festival which is at the beginning of July. I performed there last summer with a friend and camped there with...

Oil Around the Engine

Sorry folks, I tried to upload the pictures I took from my tablet, but it said the file was too big. It's been a long day, and I just didn't feel like trying to sort this out. My bad and I'm sorry. For now I'm just going to stay positive and say, oil is lubrication and my vans engine is well lubrica...

Oil Around the Engine

Hello folks, I did something I've never done before. I changed my own oil. Everything went well, and I was able to use the lift in the auto shop at the school where I work at. This little luxury offered me a chance to poke around underneath while it was up in the air. My van has been running very we...

Hello teeko. I have an L300 that I've owned for a little over 6 years now. It's been the best used vehicle I've ever owned and I absolutely love it. I live in Ontario as well and I purchased mine Through Craig at Bonsai Rides. He was excellent to deal with. Not only with the initial purchase, but af...
