Hand throttle - open or closed when off
On a diesel? The idle speed knob to the left of the steering column? It makes no difference. All it does is hold the accelerator pedal down a little. Generally you're only supposed to use it when the engine's cold, to increase the idle speed. Once the engine's warm it should idle at 750rpm without u...

1993 L300 Pre-Purchase Inspection HELP
A 4D56 should idle at 750rpm. There's an idle increase knob beside the steering column- twist it to unlock, to make sure it's not just stuck on. The main thing to look out for is rust in the A-pillar, windscreen surround, and roof- especially around a sunroof/crystal lite glass. If there's rust in t...

ReCasting Bushings with Polyurethane
Go for it! I'd use plastic instead of cardboard, or wax/grease the cardboard so it releases cleanly. Did you notice how he very carefully never showed the back side of any of the bushes? I bet they're a mess of ugly stuck-on cardboard. :-) My only concern would be that they might end up transmitting...

Coolant dripping near oil filter
Assuming you've ruled out the obvious sources (tired radiator hoses, head gasket leak, thermostat housing) the usual suspect is the heater pipe-to-water pump O-ring. Between the exhaust manifold and the block you'll find a steel pipe which runs around the back of the block to the heater hoses. That ...

Fuel economy on the 3l V6 isn't great, 16-20mpg (about 13l/100km). It's a very heavy van with the aerodynamics of a brick.

Windshields Available in Calgary
Front and rear windscreens are all the same whether high- or low-roof. The US market* Mitsubishi Van and Wagon use the same glass, so that might give you some other options.

Starter Motor Issues
Hah! the pinhole leak is a classic. I had an MG that ran fine until it got hot, then started misfiring until it stopped. Clearly an electrical/spark misfire. Replaced the coil and condenser (they can fail when hot). Replaced the distributor cap, rotor, and leads. Spark plugs. Points. Checked all the...

Before you go spending all the moneys, try a couple of tests for me? l300_12v_egr_hyundai_mitsubishi_starter_motor_m2t56181_js344_16853_1_year.jpg Make sure it's in neutral. Using one side of a pair of jumper leads, apply 12V to the small spade terminal (A, red) If the starter runs, you have a wirin...

L300 Automatic and Manual = same engine?
^What he said. All same, though you'll have to swap a few minor things from one engine to the other depending on which direction you're going. Flywheel/flex plate, kickdown linkage, ... err... I think that's it actually!

Glow Plug/Starter Issue for a Newbie
The ignition lock is probably easy- the switch on the back of the lock can just fall out. Remove the steering column trim and I bet you'll find the electrical part of the ignition barrel is dangling. The usual fault is the black contacts section comes unclipped and falls out- you can usually just cl...

Leaking Fuel Tank
The two tanks are completely different shapes, and have different connections. The front tank is rectangular, the rear tank is squarer but deeply scalloped to avoid the driveshaft. http://www.delica.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?f=91&t=17225 ...I'm guessing you haven't tried sticking your head under th...

I swear by POR15 Fuel Tank Sealer, as long as you follow the instructions . ( https://www.por15.com/POR-15-Fuel-Tank-Sealer ). You also need Cleaner/Degreaser ( https://www.por15.com/POR-15-Cleaner-Degreaser ) and Metal Prep ( https://www.por15.com/POR-15-Metal-Prep ). When I added the extended fuel...
