Re: Electrical: ac blower
Not sure if this is the "give-it-a-whack" syndrome that's been in past threads. Mine was worn and worked intermit. and then finally not at all. I ended up getting a new blower motor - ordered it as a Honda Civic. Worked great (though it's fun pulling that out and putting the new one in!) h...

Re: Loss of power and gaining smoke
Do you have a boost gauge? You can pull off the intake hose and check the play of the turbine - the rubber hose that goes into the front of the turbo. It's not the best method but if you can really move the turbine around the bearings are gone. I hope it's not turbo! I've been told that a turbo is e...

Re: Loss of power and gaining smoke
Loss of power and smoke can be one of quite a few issues (many threads on these). Going with your turbo, did/do you have "new" sound? Whining? Is the smoke only under load? You can also check the threads about broken balancer and timing belt skipping a notch. Does the engine run smooth or ...

Re: I'm stumped
Sorry, I should have asked only one question!
Is that "nope" - no valve, or "nope" - can't answer that?

Re: I'm stumped
One of the posts in this thread asked about pcv valve - is there one on the L300? I haven't looked inside the valve cover yet (don't imagine there's much room in there); I don't see one from a quick outside look at the engine. Can anyone answer this?

Re: Oil in the air intake
Thanks - I just found the catch-can idea and might do that... not sure.
The egr I've been meaning to do; just haven't yet.
Thanks again for the replies.

Oil in the air intake
Replaced the turbo and while apart cleaned up all intake passage-ways; intake manifold was so lovely! Put everything together and had an exhaust leak, so I took it all apart again... and oil coating the intake passage-ways again (after only a few days). This is oil in the metal intake tube, the one ...

Re: Turbo 101 Help
Thanks everyone - I went to Maximum today (they were great) and he gave me an actuator but I think it will be too short and so I may still drill out the old one and make it fit. I do have a gauge and the old boost ran around 8psi (0.5 on my gauge - I think that's kg-force/cm2). And a side note - I w...

Re: Turbo 101 Help
Good to know - before I started drilling I wanted to see if I was on the right track; seems like there's not much thickness on the old arm to drill out to size but I'll work on that and perhaps on the gate pin too. Was the gate travel that different from the old to new? New one has a way bigger trav...

Re: Turbo 101 Help
Nope - not going to rebuild; sounds a bit too exciting for me to be testing out a diy rebuild! I've taken the old one off - now putting the new one on. However, the old actuator won't work with the new turbo: actuator rod-end-hole is too small for the new (larger) post for the waste gate. Just wonde...

Re: Turbo 101 Help
I have a 91 and am replacing mine. I just picked up the Garrett from Maximum Overdrive and the wastegate actuator rod-end won't fit on the new gate post. Did anyone else run into this? Also, the gate on the new Garrett has a very large swing (open to close is a large travel) but the old one was a ve...

Re: Replacing front blower motor
Sorry for big delay here for an update... Brand new Civc blower fit perfect (just had to swap the baskets - use the old plastic cage from the Delica). I'm looking through the files here and I don't recall the year. The Lordco part number is 35682 - was $107 with tax. Just found the references - it w...

Re: Replacing front blower motor
Thanks - I'll check the Montero angle.
I'm not sure if replacing the brushes is fine - they wore quite a path in the commutator; maybe just slotting in new ones is fine?
Thanks guys.

Re: Again with naming sounds...
X4 on the crank bolt - and no driving until yo do! I couldn't place my "sound" for quite a while (checking all the belts and pulleys - other than down at the crank) and finally had it back off and power steering go to know something big was up. Wrecked the end of the crank and needed to ha...

Replacing front blower motor
...when the big kick/whack to the blower no longer works... Took the motor apart and brushes are down to stubs (one disconnected) and they wore quite a swath in the commutator plates. So it's either put in a used one (could be back at the same place soon) or go new (more than I want to spend). Has a...
