...when the big kick/whack to the blower no longer works...
Took the motor apart and brushes are down to stubs (one disconnected) and they wore quite a swath in the commutator plates. So it's either put in a used one (could be back at the same place soon) or go new (more than I want to spend). Has anyone tried putting in one from another N.A. vehicle? I had heard that Toyota used the same one and I saw a picture of a 4runner one that looked identical (the innards that is - not just the outside).

Re: Replacing front blower motor
Thanks - I'll check the Montero angle.
I'm not sure if replacing the brushes is fine - they wore quite a path in the commutator; maybe just slotting in new ones is fine?
Thanks guys.

If the brush holders have worn their way into the commutator, you should replace the motor (not just the brushes).
X 2 on the Montero angle. I imagine it would be a direct match, and if not it, then maybe something from a Dodge around the same time (Dodge and Mitsubishi still being bedfellows at that time).

Re: Replacing front blower motor
I was working on my mother inlaw's Echo a few years ago...had trouble finding a match. What I learned is the Blower fan replacement is very generic. You get a motor that plugs the hole with the right length shaft and put your bower fan onto it and then splice the wires to fit for non-OEM replacements...all around $100.00 ish.
Very generic, I am sure that you can find on that fits

Re: Replacing front blower motor
Sorry for big delay here for an update...
Brand new Civc blower fit perfect (just had to swap the baskets - use the old plastic cage from the Delica). I'm looking through the files here and I don't recall the year. The Lordco part number is 35682 - was $107 with tax. Just found the references - it was a 4 seasons-35682 which fits 88-91 civics.
The rear one just quit and I pulled it and it looks exactly the same as the front (other than electrical connectors and the vent hose).
When assembling the connector clip (from the new one) make sure you have the fan spinning the correct way - see the vents on the basket.
