Homemade Curtains **WITH PICS**

I know these are really hard to come by, but my wife and I are looking for ANY curtains that have the hardware, or just the hardware itself. Our van didn't come with any We found out last weekend while camping that they are needed. Our van has the metal sliding tracks, so we are just looking for the plastic (assuming they are plastic) pieces that get sewn onto the curtains.

I gave up searching for good Delica curtains.

You can go into Home Depot and buy the little plastic sliders (universal size) with hooks and just grab some fabric, scizzor's and you're set.

Did you try Fabricland ?

They are a plastic looking lil unit . The side and front curtain sliders are round, and the rear window are rectangular.

The round one measures 7/16 inch diameter ( 1.2 cm )

The square measures 1/4 x 5/16 inch ( 60 x 80 mm ??)

Check with Glen at CCAutos for the plastic sliders, I picked up a few from him after I closed my hatch on some stacked coolers while camping and smashed a few. Used, but very reasonable $.

I'll have to try fabricland as I went to Home Depot today and they didn't have them. Mardy said he has some too, so if I don't find any i'll just get them from him.

Bought mine in Home Depot on Cambie/2nd. Not exactly the same as the originals, but fits perfect as well.

Ok, so we tried 3 Home Depos, 2 Rona's, 1 Fabricland and 1 fabric store and couldn't find the sliding hardware. BUT, Mardy came through again like he always does and got us some.

So like I said in my last post, my wife came up with an amazing idea and here is the result.

Bought the RediShade from Home Depot...Bought two because you can cut them in half to make four. I think about $15 each.

FABRIC RediShade curtains from Home Depot.

Then we cut them to 22"

We used ELASTIC THREAD so that it would have a little give.

We put 6 sliders on the top and 6 on the botom (it's all we had, but worked out well).

Sandy also make little rings to hold the curtains while they are open (velcro front and back to make it easy).

Sandy also made front and back curtains using the same frabric that was used to hold the curtains open. She added velcro to the top portion and it just sticks to the head liner behind the rear seats and then in front of the driver and passenger seats.

Well, there you go. I hope you like them and now you can make your own NEW curtains too!

Not too sure. You would have to check out Home Depot, but I think there was only white. It would've been nice to get a cream or gray for sure, but the white looks pretty good in the van.

Anyway, how bright is it inside the van on a sunny day with close curtains? Just wondering, because the original curtains keep the interior not very dark. We made our curtains out of felt to keep the light out completely.

The van is in for servicing right now at CVI and we just finished them the other night, so i'm not too sure how bright it is during the day with them closed. They are white, so i'm sure it's not going to keep much light out, but fortunately for us we sleep while it's dark out so it shouldn't be an issue ...more for privacy than anything else.
