Hello Everyone,

I'm a happy new (first time) owner of a delica l300 this month and would like to thank everyone on the forum for all the info which helped guide my purchase. The bus runs great and I have tonnes of projects in store for her. I've already started building a storage/bed platform in the back after looking through previous posts. So far the bed is built but it needs some tweaks so it can lie over the second row bench seats and also fold away into the back (third row is removed). Has anyone had any luck removing factory decals on their delica? Mine our quite hideous and it would look much cleaner without. What do people recommend as priority upgrades for van performance off/on road besides the recommended services/replacements parts which are done.. I will be exploring lots of logging roads and a big trip is in the plans to the US.

cheers!

Welcome to Delica Canada, Rob & Kelly :M

There are a few existing threads regarding decal removal, which decals are you referring to? The big ones on the side?

Would like to see your projects in action, will you be posting and pictures?

Falco.

Hi Rob and Kelly,

Welcome! Pictures of your new purchase?

My favorite upgrades so far are the stainless steel 2.5" exhaust and EGR blanking/installation of an Auberins pyrometer. The engine breathes better, and runs cooler as measured by the pyrometer. Also installed a JVC double DIN stereo which is about the easiest thing I've ever installed, fits perfectly in the stock location.

Plans for the future include a snorkel, possibly a lift kit, some Hella lights etc etc...lol there is no end to the upgrades.

*EDIT* If you buy your digital guage with a sender that has 1/8" NPT thread, then get blanking plates with the corresponding thread, then it makes installation of the sender a breeze. However, you are measuring the temperature pre-turbo and only off of one cylinder and there has been much debate about the better location being post-turbo, with slightly trickier install (need to weld a bung or tap a hole).

Here's a picture of the van in action near Horne Lake Vancouver isl. I will post more of the bed and decals for your opinions on what I should do.
I was also thinking of getting rear window limo tinted since there's no curtains in the back. I've read some posts that its difficult seeing the back up mirror at night so maybe just the lower 3/4 dark tint and leave the top logo as is.
Steven-look familiar..? :-)

cheers,

Nice looking van! Which model of L300 is that? It's hard to tell from the picture but it looks like you might want to crank your torsion bars so the front sits a bit higher.

its a 1996 Delica L300 Active World. I'm not a mechanic but I will look into that...could be just the angle of the shot. Its a high roof and they seem to look like the end stick up a bit...
