problem is the bolt circle is really small so lifting lets it flex the thin metal around.... Adding material is a good idea.

If I weld my A-arm it would be by a certified welder (which I am not)...I know my limits... It would be small welds with a fish-plate or something on the other side....

Hi,
Is the ball joint in a 1997 Space Gear/ Delica the same as in a L400? I need one for the passenger side of my Space Gear for it to pass inspection. Any info on where I could get one? The running gear and suspension on my van is supposedly identical to a Pajero, so I'm wondering if Montero parts would fit? Thanks for any information.

Cheers, Dan

Hi Dan, the L400 and the Space Gear are the same vehicle. However, there is a series one and a series two Space Gear, the series two began in 1997. I am not sure how different the suspension is between the two. What you could do is contact any of these people who could not only tell the information you need but also supply you with the part:

Another post I would recommend for your perusal is: Welcome to Delica Canada: Read This Before You Do Anything. This information will help you understand and how to navigate Delica Canada better. Good luck.

Falco.

Hi Dan

This has been documented already in the L400 tech section. I posted the difference between the two.

Montero and L400 upper control arms are different = upper balljoints are different = not interchangeable

As for Paul's reference to the Series I vs. Series II drivetrain goes, both are identical. This as well has been documented in the L400 tech section.

With regards to the lower balljoint, you 'can' use a montero/pajero with a mild modification if you absolutely must. Modification required : The grease nipple has to be removed and sealed shut as it is located in a position on the balljoint casing that rubs up against the inner lower control arm bracket making the install a near impossibility.

Cheers
Jesse

*edit* I've posted pictures of the two so you can see the difference

Thank you guys for the help.
My apologies for asking questions that have already been dealt with in other threads.i did try to search through them, but I was under pressure to act quickly, so I just asked. I will read the suggested material, and start acting properly!
:-)

The only stupid question is the one unasked.
Some members may appear to be impatient but the policy of Delica Canada is about helping one and other. When you get more site savvy, you also can help out the next guy. I already welcomed you to Delica Canada... but now... Welcome to Canada, eh? There are some good people with Delicas out your way ~ fine out who they are and get to know them. Maybe make it to a mini-meet: check http://www.delica.ca/forum/alberta-46/

Thanks Falco
Appreciate the welcome. Once I get a bit more settled in with my family I will certainly look into meets and such. Hopefully I will actually find the time to make it to them. :-D As my van is actually our daily driver as well, it is well outfitted for whole-family-mini-expeditions. And it has already proven its reliability and off road prowess in the snowy mountains of Switzerland.
Looking forward to meeting like minded people.
Cheers, Dan
