DIY installation of shocks?

Hey there, I'm just wondering if anyone has swapped the front shocks themselves? How difficult/easy is the job? It doesn't look overly difficult but I've only had a glance under there when checking out the really bad noise coming from my driver side front shock. Seems the bottom of the shock has rus...

Diesel price hike?

Anyone else notice that diesel is averaging around 5 cents higher than regular gas now? I got used to paying $1.099 for most of the summer (while gas was $1.099 to $1.129), now it is consistently $1.189 (while gas is $1.109 to $1.159). It actually cost me over $70 to fill my tank the other day, I've...

Re: Need advice for L400 wheels - Vancouver

I believe the offset is 4 1/4", I'm sure Jesse will correct me if I'm wrong. I managed to find a set off a Toyota 4runner. Before I met the guy I asked him if he would mind waiting while I mounted one of the wheels on to the front of my van. I measured the offset, mounted one tire, then drove a...

Re: Other vehicles

My L400 replaced my 2005 Mazda 3.

I have no other motor vehicle.

I have a 1978 San Juan 24' sail boat and an 18' A Class catamaran.

L400 front suspension "clunk"

I'll try to describe it a bit better. I get an occasional clunk/bump feeling through the floorboards where my left foot rests while driving and going over some bumps. I can also hear a slightly different sound than the normal suspension compression when it happens. It's very intermittent and barely ...

Re: Durable offroad rims - Group buy?

Those rims look great. I'd love to have another set of rims for my off road tires. Unfortunately no cash at the moment for any non-necessities for the van. :-(

Re: This is not what I expected!!

I find I'm usually getting around 12L/100km, slightly better when highway driving and slightly worse with more city driving. I think that's pretty darn good for a vehicle this size and age. My Mom has a 2008 Mercedes GL diesel 7 seater SUV and it gets about 28mpg with her average driving. My last ve...

Re: FLIPPED my van...

Sorry to hear about your accident treeplanter. Good to hear no serious damage was caused to yourself. I'm pretty sure a decent body shop could do wonders with the body, but it'll be costly. The glass work for the crystal lights may be more challenging though. You should check the usual dealers on he...

Re: L400 Headlight Lenses - Ecode - Glass - $380/Pair

A lot of guys in the Mazda 3 club successfully used heat guns to open up their headlight housings to install "angel" lights (aka halo's, DDE's, etc) like the ones you see factory installed in many BMW's. It takes a bit of patience but can quite easily be done. Actually that could be an int...

Re: Changing Front Seats

I am resigned that when I am stopped at the "line" I will look to the left kiddie corner light to tell me when it is green to go otherwise I need to crane my neck like a sleeping duck to see the overhead light. I do the same thing, and had the same issue with my Mazda 3. I think it's pret...

Re: Delicat needs a 4x4 - Camping fix! Aug. 13-15, anyone?

Well, all this might have been for nothing. I just got a heads up minutes ago that my work is waiting for me, including the weekend... Sounds like my work too. We're in a "blackout" for vacations and every week I don't know until Thursday if I'm working that weekend or not. The 13-15th di...

Re: CANADA'S TOUGHEST IMPAIRED DRIVING PENALTIES START SEPT. 20

Wow, I'm a bit surprised about the debate this has spurred. I was just trying to put some information out there and didn't expect much to come of it. There have been some great points raised here, it's good to see this community is concerned about our personal liberties, social responsibility, the h...

CANADA'S TOUGHEST IMPAIRED DRIVING PENALTIES START SEPT. 20

http://www2.news.gov.bc.ca/news_releases_2009-2013/2010PSSG0045-000887.htm There should be no concern for any responsible driver, but it's good to see some stricter laws being enacted especially for repeat offenders. I'd be happy with a zero tolerance policy. Safe driving out there everyone on this...

Re: Whats the big deal with long wheelbase model?

Actually it's about 20" longer and not all of that extra space is behind the rear seats. About 8" is in front of the rear seats, so there is more leg room for the seats and it's about an extra foot of storage behind the seats. The seating arrangements are the same for both SWB and LWB. Eit...
