Wiring in Steering column - van did not start

Hi everyone, I just spent 3 hours troubleshooting a non-starting van. After running through the checklist from batteries, fuses, solenoid, starter, I ended up in the ignition switch in the steering column. The group of wires on the left side of the column do not appear frayed, loose or at all compro...

Re: Veggie Oil "Borrower" Bedwell Lake

This is standard practice for many mountain folks. The thinking is that is an accident happened Ie. someone fell off cliff, the key is not on their person and accessible for anyone in the party to access in the case of an emergency. If one person ran out to the car to get help (cell phone reception ...

Re: Veggie Oil "Borrower" Bedwell Lake

Mystery solved. Some friends were out in a non converted diesel Pajero and realized they forgot to fill up and were essentially on empty when they arrived at the parking lot. Being over 90KM from a gas station they say my vehicle and said "Thank god!". I definitely told them to next leave ...

Veggie Oil "Borrower" Bedwell Lake

Hello Everyone, A strange thing happened today as I came out of a 3 day mountaineering from Mt. Tom Taylor. I arrived back to my Delica parked at the Bedwell Lake Trail parking lot and someone had found my hidden key on vehicle, pumped veggie oil out of my tank, took a rubbermaid (my guess is to hol...

Re: Taking WVO jugs across the border?

Hey Adam, This winter I went across for a ski road trip and had 5 x 21 Liter gas jugs full of veg. They could smell the vehicle as I pulled up and when seeing the excess veg, had no problem with it. I think they could open it and smell it and see it is just oil. But yet ever situation is different. ...

Re: Courtenay WVO Co-op

Thanks Kev for the words of encouragement. After our first meeting most people said they left pumped but did not believe anything would happen for at least 4-6 months. They were surprised when I gave them a call a few weeks later with the latest update. I am stoked to be getting this off the ground....

Re: Courtenay WVO Co-op

Hello everyone, I have ordered the centrifuge from Diesel Craft along with the pump and motor. Should be here in 2-3 weeks. Looking forward to seeing it in action. :-) . We have decided on the location and had an mini bobcat there on the weekend clearing and leveling. One of the guys went down to De...

CBC's "The Current" on Oil theft

Yesterday on "The Current" on CBC Radio talked for half an hour about "yellow grease". Here is the narrative. "You might say that yellow grease is a new black gold, a hot commodity whose price has tripled. And with that rapid rise in value, grease banditry is rampant in some...

Re: Need an Delica appraisal done in Calgary - suggestions?

I have been looking to do apprasial on my Deli just so I can get what it is worth, not what I paid, if I ever have it written off. I had a 4 runner a few years back that I got for a steal and it was extra mint. A drunk driver slammed into it outside my house 5 months later. ICBC was gave me 3 grand ...

Re: Oil price forecast

I think all the views are valid ones. The supply issue is one that needs to be discussed. I think that as more people realize the potential of WVO for both straight fuel and as biodiesel the demand will grow. But the majority of people will keep on doing it the way the have always done it. Buying fu...

Re: Radiator leak

Thanks Jester, I went to Canadian tire and bought a stop a leak compound. Poured it in and ran the van for 30 minutes. Put a piece of cardboard under for the night and will see if there is any more leak. Reading the Russet manual it also had a road trip emergency fix a leak solution. Pour a raw egg ...

Radiator leak

So I have been constantly losing coolant over the past week and a half. I have been finding pools of it on my driveway. Finally tackling the issue tonight. It seems to be coming from the base of the rad and but also may be from the small hole at the bottom of the rad. No leaky hoses could be found. ...

Re: Courtenay WVO Co-op

So the first meeting of the future Courtenay Veg Coop was held in the comfy chairs of the Best Western Hotel last night. 7 people attended, 4 of those being non Delica owners...we won't hold it against them  . Lots of great ideas and some real concrete goals to attain in the next few weeks. 2 ...

Re: Filtering WVO to 5 microns

Hey Green, Welcome back. I have never seen a Delica that colour before. Looks nice. :-) WVO is available. There are still restaurants that do not have any agreements with anyone. We are having our first Courtenay Coop meeting this Wed. We are keeping the numbers small for the first until we decide h...
