It's been for some time now that my vehicle (automatic, L300) has not been shifting to the higher gear. At the speed of 85 km/h it runs 3,500 rpm and is not shifting higher. The situation is constantly going worse, it's not like one time event when one day it was running great and the next one it got screwed up completely. I can feel this "lower gear" roaring while not being able to switch to a higher gear as it used to do at 80km/h and 3,000 rpm before.
Any clue what might have happened and what's reason for that?
How to fix it and who can possibly do this?
Another question - what's the role of kick down cable and how to set it up properly? I assume that there's a relationship of properly set up kick down cable on the overall performance of the transmission.
Any clue on that issue?
Please respond if you have any suggestions.

Hey Frige, first thing I'd check is level and condition of transmission fluid.
Do you have enough fluld? There are steps on here for checking transmission fluid, basically if I remember correctly it's best to check it once the engine and transmission are warmed up - go for a 10 minute drive then pull the dipstick and check (it's the one tucked out of sight behind the oil dipstick).
Is the fluid a nice rosy/pink colour? Or is it dirty brown? If it's dirty brown time for a flush/fill.
A flush and fill might be all you need. Pretty sure I remember Mardy saying there's a screen/filter that should be replaced too if it's never been replaced before inside the transmission pan.

Sounds like your overdrive is not kicking in.
Check the button on the gear shift and the sensor.

Some overdrives have a temperature sensor incorporated in them. They won't shift into OD unless the engine temp is within set limits. I am unsure if the Delica has that set up.
