Jensen's EGR Removal Blank Kits - Now With More Cowbell

This started as me trying to help out in this thread but it seems that there are different people looking to do different things and there was a bit of confusion so I've started a new thread of my own.

Yet Another Edit: Although I grew impatient and threw in the towel, Jensen picked up the ball and if you follow the thread, you'll find its not so dead.

Good on you Rich to carry on Falco's project.

Not sure if you're aware but you don't need different design for the 300 or 400. The 300 style fits both perfectly. At least this is what MysteryMachine told me when I visited him. And from visual inspection I think he was right. That way you'd save money on the process... And $40 is a bit steep, it might be worth checking with other machinist... I've used one for my lift kit that was very decent and I'm sure Jesse could direct you as well.

Hope this help!

Cheers,
David

Hola muchacho!

To be fair, he has his own project, which is a different approach.

The kit illustrated above includes an EGR valve blocking plate, an exhaust blocking plate. It is 1/4" (6mm) thick. It defeats the EGR (implying removal) in the 2.4 L300 and 2.8 L400, Pajero engines. It is thick enough to support a pyro probe mount.

I have submitted the drawings to CNC machinists around the lower mainland, as well as in the US. I'm looking for more machinists, and I've PM'd everyone who has mentioned that they can do or know someone who can do the job. I welcome any leads you have on machinists who might beat the quotes I've got right now.

Are the specs above for L400 blanking kit? I am thinking hacksaw + grinder + drill = me sore and tired, but save about $35.

What is being used for gasket, if anything? High temp RTV?

Cheers

If you do it with a hacksaw/grinder and it's not easy on the eyes, just remember that it's right there in the open every time you open the hood.

I prefer the clean look. Good for Rich to make some.

My machinist is hit & miss. He's over 70 and works once in a while. Plus he's expensive. :-D

Just a heads up, probably going to pass the torch to Jensen on this as he responded to my PM and I think he's the man for the job. Watch this space.

The kit is the SAME for the L300 2.5 4d56 engine and the L400 2.8 4M4O engine.
THE SAME! ok?
6mm IS close to 1/4 inch (0.2362204724409449 inches)
Around 40bux is what I paid too.

The only guys that can do it cheaper are these guys,
First thing I noticed was the sign on the shop....

then met these guys..

I asked about fabbing up some EGR plates and this
is what their response was...

Though they gave quite an energetic and enthusiastic response, they did not
really answer any of my questions.
I felt that perhaps other members of the club where better suited to
see this project through...
I WILL TAKE 2 SETS when the dust and and metal shavings settle guys.
Please and Thank you.

Right ON! 8-)

Tripped across this one, may not be worth it after conversion/shipping and such.

Sent for quotes: 1 piece vs 20 piece order.

Will update when I get a response.

Cheers

Ok, my wrong if I didn't notice it already included both plates. In that case it's worth it 'cause cutting 1/4" steel with a grinder isn't fun. I've done it and don't think I'd do it again!

Count me for 1 kit for sure and possibly a 2nd kit if it fits the Safari (I'm pretty sure it will).

Cheers,
David

The important thing is that we get them made.

I would like to comment that if we are putting together 1/4" plates then they may as well be aluminium. The only reason they were made of 3mm mild steel is because you couldn't fit a 1/4" of aluminium between the EGR valve and the mount (bolts too short). This way we avoid the electrolytic reaction issues.

Falco.

Can't do them all in aluminum, the exhaust side gotta be steel. It gets real hot down there...

From reading the original post do I get it right this time to think both plates will be 1/4" thick? Couldn't you save more money by getting the intake side much thinner as it doesn't need to be that thick... 1 or 2mm should be plenty.

And as the wise Falco said "as long as they get done"... :-D
