I went looking for my first oil filter in Toronto today (I used up the stock of filters I brought with me). There's a Filter's Cross Reference List in the >>Delica Canada Technical>>FAQ and Downloads>>Delica FAQ Section and the best deal there seems to be the K & N HP-3001 for $17 at Lordco. There's a separate listing of confirmed matches that says this one is good for sure. DON'T DO IT. After talking to the tech guys at K& N I got the following specs.
Mitsubishi MD069782/MZ690071 vs K&N HP-3001
Type: combination FF/bypass lube vs oil only
Relief Valve: PSI 11 vs PSI 8-11
Thread: 26mmx1.5mm vs 3/4 inch x 16 tpi
This last one is the kicker - basically the Mitsubishi filter has metric threads (naturally) and the K&O is imperial. Hopefully we can get the FAQ changed before anyone else makes this economical but unfortunate error.

You are correct. I checked out that K&N part at Lordco when I picked up a new Fram filter. The K&N was almost half the diameter.psychedelica wrote:I went looking for my first oil filter in Toronto today (I used up the stock of filters I brought with me). I would remove that K&N part from the list; its clearly not the right one. There might be another filter from them that does fit, but that's not it.
Looks like the wiki is already updated.

Removed the K&N entry, glad to keep the list correct.
Does anyone ever try/find the Luber Finer brand outside of BC? I found them in several stores around BC during my travels, and had read they are a top quality filter; used them during my Delica years.
Cheers,
Kev

The luber-finer filters are popular in rural Manitoba. They are sold by Auto-Sense dealers, and by most small town garages. They are good quality and economically priced. I use them or Baldwin, depending on which supplier I am dealing with at the time. I like both equally.

My local Freightliner dealer carries Baldwin filters (air, fuel, and oil). It is warranty approved for CAT diesels, so must be pretty good. Good prices too.Manitoba deli wrote: I use them or Baldwin, depending on which supplier I am dealing with at the time. I like both equally.
**EDIT** a few minutes later. Make that Kenworth, not Freightliner. (Memo to self, wine and memory are mutually exclusive, as is wine and spelling.)
