Big Rig school; my first step in the cab

Post by Ricker »

So it's been 2 weeks now into the course. Lots of books/manuals topics to go through but today we had our first chance to get into the cab. Fear not sidewalkers; didn't even move the truck. :-D

We were each assigned a truck for each team of 2 to get familiar with the pre-run check ups we have to do before driving the truck. I was assigned a 2010 International ProStar with only 26 000km on it!! It's a 18 speed and pretty much the most advanced truck the school's got it their fleet. Everything's digital on this bad boy.

So did the checkup and teacher came in and approved what we've checked ( without the truck running ) and gave me the clear to start her up... <insert Matrix WOAH in here>
Sorry about the big pics... didn't had the proper software on hand

So I " might " have this one for the rest of the week. There's still the Peterbilt 13 speed and the Sterling 10 speed that I'd like to get my hands on. So far; teacher told me and my partner that we are ok for the next step for our licences. Next week is the Provincial exam. That will allow me to drive on public roads with the teacher for the next months.

Belive it or not; at the end of this course and a 2 week internship, this will get me that HS diploma I never got. Left school at 18 to work in demolition/contruction and never looked at school since.

Some local companies already showed interest to have me as a driver for an apprenticeship but I'm aiming for heavy equipment hauling.

Cheers!
