timing chain

ive recently bought a 1994 pajero and am wondering when your supposed to change the timing chain on it, it has 100,000 kms on it.

timing chains generally last about 300,000km, that said, some of the early ones used in the L400 (and presumably the Pajero) had a flaw that made them fail earlier, if your engine is making the famous "chuff chuff" sound then it's time to do it.
