The Adventure Begins?
Hey Folks,
I think it is time Saskatoon attains one more of these fabulous vehicles.
We have made the decision to add a Delica (L300) to our family, and are hoping to lean on this community a bit for advice & questions in the near future.
Is anyone else around here from the Saskatoon area?
If so, I'll buy you a pie and coffee at the coffee shop of your choice in exchange for a brief chat about experiences with these mighty little vans.
Thanks,
JJ

Welcome JJ,
Now the biggest decision is whether or not you want a low roof , or the Crystal Light high roof. The fact you are planning the L300 is half the battle.
I do recall a few members in Saskabush, and they will probably raise their frozen hands soon enough.
Cheers
Gregg

Re: The Adventure Begins?
Hello there! Sorry it took so long for someone from town to respond to you, but as golfcart says its been cold!
What part of town are you in? Looking to kick a few tires? P.M. me and I would be happy to answer some of your questions,And as I am new at this too if there are any I don't know the answer to, the search function here works OK
,Just be prepared for some bleeding red eyes looking at all the results

Drive a 1990 black over white Delica. It can often be seen towing a small trailer

There's a third choice: high roof without crystaliteGolf Cart wrote: Now the biggest decision is whether or not you want a low roof , or the Crystal Light high roof. The fact you are planning the L300 is half the battle.
There's a fourth (rare) choice: high roof with huge sunroof.

Re: The Adventure Begins?
Best case scenario would be High roof/Crystal Lite + sunroof, but I'm sure we'll know the right one when it comes along.....

Re: The Adventure Begins?
Our "shopping list" is nearly complete!
After much research, we have so far decided on a high-roof, crystal lite, with AC and at least a 4 speaker stereo.
Dark in colour, with hopefully less that 100,000 kms. Ladder would be nice.
I guess the actual "shopping" comes next!

Re: The Adventure Begins?
I was very specific with what I wanted. I dreamed of having a black over silver low roof Chamonix at around 60,000 klicks. One day my brother called me up and said:
Read up on the Delica and get very specific with what you want. You're going to love these machines, JJ.

Less than 100K is risky imo, more of a chance it sat unused for a spell in japan, these motors have 500K life in them easily. Mine is for sale atm, but has 157K.

Re: The Adventure Begins?
Loki brings up a good point. While I was in negotiations for the Miss Lil' Bitchi I spent $200.00 and had her checked out by a mechanic. She had been sitting for a period of time and consequently the seals had dried out; causing the oil to get onto the timing belt. We negotiated a new price based on the work that would have to be done.

You don't necessarily have to do everything on this list but it gives you an idea of what to look for. This list can be found in "Delica Wiki", which you will find under "Delica Canada Techincal" in the forum index.
I highly recommend you peruse the DCT forum, Delica Wiki in particular.

Re: The Adventure Begins?
You have picked a good time to buy as prices seem to have dropped for the 300's. There are a few listed around town (pajerro's) Look on kijiji and type in Mitsubishi diesel.
There is also a dealer in P.A. that had some 300's, 400's and pajerro so you could try all and pick from there.
Low mileage can be good or bad. Mine has 34000 on it and its sitting in my driveway looking good... I imported it straight from Japan. Test drive local and go from there. The price on my rig by the time all is done will end up being as expensive as one off a lot if not more.
Hope you enjoy the hunt and get all that you want and more
