Drive Line plates/guards?

Post by jeremy »

I'm wondering if anyone has inquired about or made/bought plates for protecting the drive line past where a skid plate reaches? The stainless one shown in one of the Delica Modification posts looks awesome but maybe something more? It looks like some mighty sensitive gadgetry on the underbelly of by beast. Thoughts?

Drive Line plates/guards?

I've seen some on a VW synchro that went the entire length of the drive line. Rocket Rally in Squamish might be able to make some but I'm guessing the price may be high. I'll try to remember to ask them.

When my Delica comes in, I'm going to have Jesse my mechanic/welder/all-around-monkey wrench have a go at armoring the underbelly.

I'll post when it's up.

use the "search" feature folks...you'll find alot of info on the plates you want within these pages...a few fine folks are in the process right now of getting some ideas put into solid form and possibly setting up to sell some stuff to other club members...Of discussion are vented plates to cover the "scoop" under your Deli's...what some believe to be a "branch through a radiator waiting to happen."
Also in the works I believe is a skid plate for the transfer case...and I do believe if my foggy memory is correct that another member has even discussed plating just about the entire underbelly.
So, it'll pay to use that search feature and rummage through some forums here...you'll be amazed what information is in these pages regarding your Deli...this site IS the holy grail of Delicadice...a "heaven" just for Deli's...

mkay someone take this away from me...I'm bogarting.

Cheers all.

Yessirreee.... I am one of those crazy folks... check under the Parts section for discussions on this topic.

I have promised to put together my ideas for plating the whole driveline (transmission pan, transfer case and rear diff possibly too). Not a very long distance under there anyway so, in for a penny....

The idea is to make these available at the most reasonable cost for members.

Used the seach. Spent 3 hours. Couldn't find one single Delica with a full plate of armor from the engine back.

Hence this post.

I'll fab some up in 3 weeks and post. :M
