Re: intercooler.....who's using one?
I just bought a used intercooler. It came from an Audi 5000. Now I have to figure out the rest (piping and things).

Nothing installed yet, but I intend to go with a FrozenBoost setup. It seems like the best bang for buck as far as fit, considering we don't have a lot of extra space in the engine bay.

In addition, the cooler that I picked up has inlet and outlet on the same side. It also has an outlet for a waste gate.

Re: intercooler.....who's using one?
Last night got together with Mephisto. He's got a front larger front mount. The egt would hit 1000F & stay there, release the throttle they drop back down to 400F very fast. Also running alot more boost,I saw 25psi.Think it peaks higher. To get that high boost he welded the pop off valve & adjusted the waste gate.I'm going to do an intercooler for sure. He's got alot more info, maybe he will post anything I missed.
Oh ya,lots more power, can't believe how hard it pulls.

Re: intercooler.....who's using one?
Remember I have a larger turbo as well, that's about all I hit until my torque converter locks up, then if I can keep it from downshifting I can make 28psi, but I think thats about the limit for efficiency for my turbo, perhaps already past it, lol. I have hit 32 plus, but adjusted it back down to where it is, I think this engine would need a cam and some headwork before it would benifit from any more than 25 psi. I know diesels don't usually have blowoff valves, but, if I make full boost then have to lift suddenly, I can hear compressor surge, so I think for a 5spd (sees more sudden throttle input changes) or running any more boost I would want a blow off valve or to modify the popoff valve so it would act as a blowoff (ie put in a stiffer spring so one could still make decent boost).
