Translate my stickers please

Post by Thomas Porter »

Hey folks,
I'm looking to replace the factory decals in my Delica with ones that are the same size, shape and colouration as their Japanese counterparts that are already there.
I would like to figure out exactly what these decals mean but my Japanese is a little rusty.
There is one on the centre console that says something about A/T, there is one between the gear shift and 4WD lever, there is one on the inside of the driver door, a coupe near the rear heater unit - there might be others - I'm sure everyone has seen these things on their Delis but I want English ones.
Any suggestions? Has this been posted somewhere else before?
Cheers,
Thomas
P.S. I'll make a couple more sets of these (if they turn out) and I'll send them to those that want them.

Thomas,

You might want to PM Bruce as he seems to know all these obscure things. If that doesn't work I'll go to the local importer in Royston, he's Japanese and I'm sure he'll give us the good info! :) :)
Cheers!!

Andy

you could learn what they say and translate them....

or you could just learn what they say, and then you know.

Just learn japanese, don't get all complicated with decals.

Just learn Japanese!?!?!? Yeah, I'll get right on that.
The only Japanese I know anything about is sushi and the odd beer label.
I have someone here in P.A. at the multicultural council that might be able to translate...

I have some japanese stickers on the outside of my van and a japanese fella was walking buy the other day and gave my van a good going over. he was so stoked to see a delica. He didn't translate my stuff on the inside but he started laughing when he saw one of the sticker on the outside it means "small nation temple" he said "I have never actually met someone who belonged to that". He found it laugh out loud funny so I am going to leave it on there. I also have a cold weather edition, I had know idea until he told me . Sorry thomas I know this doesn't help you but this guy leaves just down the road from me next time I see him I will ask him read everything inside and out and i will let you know :D

My girlfriend teaches ESL and one of her students was laughing the other day at the orange/red "Cold Weather Package" sticker.

Which one is that one? I stripped a few off the outside. was it the one on the drivers side rear window or on the hatch glass?
Get the kids to translate all of them word for word and I'll make you some new stickers!

It's the driver's side hatch. About 1.5" x 4". Orange and Red striped. We took all the others off except this one because my girlfriend like the colour. I ordered a Delicanada sticker but that's it for this one. Our last adventure van was completely stickered with surf/wake/snow, etc... because it was an Econoline and we didn't want to be mistaken for a pervert van.

I've taken off pretty much everything that was on the glass, and there wasn't much on the outside other than the usual mmc decal and that sort of thing... the one I've left is a green oval near the license plate that has Japanese characters at the top and bottom and says "safety drive" in the middle... I guess I like to think I'm a safe driver... (though I'm kinda curious what the rest of it says)
(I've also peeled off some of the ones on the interior, though I'd like to know what they say (imagine if it actually WAS an important warning about something!))

on the outside I will have the delica.ca stickers front and rear, and I have the mdocuk yellow diamond in the windshiled, (and I guess soon I will have decals for my new alarm on the side windows...)

I like the idea of just learning what they say, then you could read them aloud to passengers, boy they'd be impressed. I believe the one by the rear heater says "Not for use as a cooking appliance", while the one by the beerbox says "40% alcohol by volume (like a magpie)". The one by the 4x4 shifter says "This could get you into a world of $}{i+" Yaaa baby

mine has the added disclaimer that at full heat setting frostbite will occur on exposed skin in less than 5 mins :(
