WVO Aircare?

Post by delicat »

Today I went for aircare inspection.

I didn't tell them but I let my system on wvo instead of diesel... I figured I'm mostly running on veggie so might as well do the test that way. Had no idea if I'd do better or worse and was also tempted to go back right after to re-do it but this time on diesel but couldn't justify wasting $23, sorry.

So, how did it performed?

AMAZING!

With Diesel engine they only test for Opacity%.
The max. allowable is 30%.
The average passing reading is 3.5%
My reading was 0.09%!

My CO2 calculation came as follow:
Fuel consumption: 13.9 L/Km (they simulate climbing hills and more...)
CO2 (Tonnes per year): 1.6 tonne (target average 2.7 tonnes)

So I'm really happy with these results but I'd love to see what others have achieved recently... anyone?

Mine was 10% on diesel when I had it tested last year. I didn't have veg installed yet but next year when I'm due for inspection I'll see how veg does.

Schwa, good to know.

Was your Delica properly tuned when you got that 10%? That's a huge difference, like 100 times more opacity than what I got  ... makes you wonder!

Those readings seem pretty much in line with most of the material I've read about WVO or SVO emissions: much less CO2 and less particulate, with a slight drop in fuel economy (not as much energy in most vegetable-based oils compared to diesel oil).

I wonder how it would fare after you install the water-glycol injector system?

I wonder how the intercoolered ones fare? I see jfarsangs Pajero did better on particulate, is that due mostly to the intercooler or the better mix with the different injection pump system (the electronically-controlled one)? Or did you have the older Pajero with the same IP?

I still miss my '94 Pajero!
