If you're on the mainland, E&H Hitch (604.433.4611) does a bang-up job of fitting a custom hitch receiver to the Delicas. When I got mine earlier this year, Rick indicated that they'd fitted well over 50 onto Delicas. I suspect the underside of the Pajero is little different than our vans.

There are lots of commercially avail hitches out there. Well, maybe not lots, but a few. I currently have a 1 1/4 receiver that bolts onto the rear crossmember's four bolt plate. There is also a 2" version of this hitch out there. For my new truck (hopefully coming on the truck this evening!) I got a big-ass 2" receiver that bolts to the frame AND the four bolts in the center.

There are versions made by Reese, Curt Manuf'g, and Valley industries, to name a few. Try hitchweb dot com...

I'm pretty sure that was strap failure. I've towed for two and a half years with the center bolted receiver on a genII. No problems. Also towed with a genI hitch attached the same way. Worked fine.

NATO style pintle hitch is also a direct bolt up to that plate, if you can use that style with what you're towing...

well i ended up fabing up a cheap alternative to ordering a tow hitch...

i took one of the "flat bar" style ball mounts (i think it's called class 1) and cut it a bit short and then welded it to the factory tow point on the pajero

i already had both the bar and ball but i have seen similar stuff at Princess Auto for about $8 for a 2inch ball and $22 for the flat bar ball mount.

the factory tow point made a lot of "Real estate" to weld around if you could imagine having the flat bar butted against the flat piece that the four bolts holes are in and the top of the bar against the tow hoop.... so i could weld around the inside and outside of the hoop

again i will post pictures as soon as i get a new digital camera!!

anyway i will only be hauling a small 4x8ft utility trailer so this should be more then strong enough

Ha Ha, that strap was attached to the factory tow point. The only good use for that attach point is for tying it down while it is on the boat coming from Japan. Look closely and you will see the ford windstar roof rack on the top of that one..

i borrowed the inlaws camera to post the pics of the trailer mount.... not the prettiest weld no doubt so just ignore it hahaha

but works great.... if you've got the parts and wanted me to do some welding for you i'd be happy to take beer in exchange!!

cheers

Hey

I got a 2 inch receiver added to my 92 SWB last week - bolted straight onto the existing plate (just removed the old circular one) and had it wired for power at the same time. The power point was fixed into the bumper - just needed a small hole drilled but looks awesome

Burnaby Hitch did the job for me...very pleased with it

go to princess auto, they have the four bolt hitch there. its an 8 ton, pintle/ball combo and its the cheapest you can find anywhere... including the states.
