Does anyone know how to get the audio deck in the middle row seating to communicate with the newly installed "gaijin" radio in the front? I must admit to mixed feelings about this, I'd like to get it working for the sake of completeness but I'm not sure if I want the kids playing with it for hours on end on a road trip.
Thanks in advance,
Rick

the audiostage works ONLY with the factory deck, it is completely proprietary and will not work with any other deck.

Re: Super Exceed Audio Deck
You would have to figure out what the input/output lines are to rear audio control, then build an interface to whatever deck you put into the front. And ya, it's a proprietary setup.
Besides, most of what the rear control panel allows passengers to interface to the audio system is now available on many current decks: input from an external audio source, input from a television set, input from a satellite system, etc. These are all comparable to mp3 inputs, bluetooth connectivity, sat-radio input/control, multi-disc controllers, etc.
Better to install an multimedia deck in the front, with secondary screens in the rear. Most come with a remote, so the passengers can control the deck from the rear seats.

Okay.. so you can't connect the two units once the main deck is switched out.
That means there has to be a flood of cool uses for the empty space where the passenger control is/was?
Has anyone mod-ed this area out?

Not yet, but I have plans. The intention is to add a second ham radio to Delibear, one with a remote head. The head will be on the dash, and the main unit will be in the space were the audio stage was.Jonny5ive wrote:That means there has to be a flood of cool uses for the empty space where the passenger control is/was?

What a cool idea. Let us know it transpires, Erebus... I am starting my ham radio course in January, here in North Van and am looking to put a VHF unit into the Miss Lil' Bitchi ~ I am looking for ideas.Erebus wrote: Not yet, but I have plans. Will do. It probably won't happen until the spring, but you never know. The radio I plan to put in is the Yaesu FT-8900R, that costs about $550. It isn't just VHF, is is quad band (29/50/144/430) that is only about $50 more than the dual band FT-8800R. It comes with a 6 metre separation cable so I can mount the main unit in the audio stage location.
