headlight change

Post by northvanmatt »

Hey I know that this sound alittle silly but I can't figure out how to change the headlights. I bought the right e-code lights so I can pass inspection but I can't get the old ones out. has any one had the pleasure?
thank you very much

First you need to remove the side indicator light pod which is attached to the piece of trim that runs underneath the headlight - one obvious screw on the side of the indicator pod, and two screws on the trim piece underneath the headlamp. These are deep in the recess between the trim piece and the bumper, and can be rusty so be careful not to strip them. Once the 3 screws are out, the indicator pod slides out towards the front of the vehicle.

Next, there are 3 machine screws with washers that should be easy to get at, remove those, making careful to support the lamp on the last one so it doesn't fall. Unclip the wires, and you're done! 8)

Funny you should say that.

Hi Matt,
Tim ("username") and I just pulled a headlight on his van on Saturday in order to goop up his leaky corner panel. Obviously Jon has done this too and his directions are 'spot on', as Bruce would say, but if you haven't all the required tools or if you need a covered space to work or you can't find those bottom screws, let me know. I'm in Lynn Valley.

You'll have to change the plugs. The wiring is out in the weather so you might want to invest in some liquid electrical tape and heat shrink tubing to make your connections water tite.
