Mechanical filter ?

I'm in the process of piecing together my wvo conversion.

I'd like to have a permanent filter I can just clean out instead of having to refill them.

To me, it's being more enviro-friendly and saving money in the long run.

What are your thoughts on taking a plantdrive vegmax system but pretty much bypassing the vegmax heated filter and instead using one of redline's cleanable 10 micron filters ?

Vegmax is $215 and redline is about the same after shipping/taxes.

I'd run the wvo from the tank, small in-line pump, redline filter, 6-way valve, thermocoupling, vegtherm heating rail into the sweet spot.

Idea's or suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm taking my time and would like to do this right the 1st time.

This will be used as primary fuel for our excursion down south of the border.

One more q. Is there any place in the lower mainland that sells filtered WVO ? Looking to run on WVO before I get a filtration/storage system running (and the fun job of collecting).

Vegmax filter is to 5 microns and is also water absorbing, the stainless steel filter reuseable filter is not. What you save in filter costs might come back to you in fuel system issues.

Is there no reusable filter from 10/5 micron's on the market ?

I'd just like to have as little waste as possible along the trip.

How many km do you plan on driving on the trip? I've driven 6000km on my current VegMax filter and it is still going strong. You'd be changing your oil filter more often than your vegmax filter if you filter down to 10u or less before you stick it in the tank.

It all depends on how well you filter your oil before it goes in your tank. Dirty oil could clog your filter in 500km or less. If you filter your oil to 5u or smaller you should be able to run ten of thousands of km on one VegMax filter. I'm only filtering down to 10u before it goes into my tank and I expect to get 10,000km out of the filter. At $22/each from Pant Drive (possible less elsewhere) it is not a great expense and is not generating a lot of land fill waste. I use way more goldenrod filter element then I do VegMax.

I plan on using a centrifuge for my de-watering and filtering process (portable) before dumping into the tank.

Other than that, I'm just at odds at what in-line filter 5 or 10 micron's and disposable or permanent to use between the tank and the engine.
