L400 Towing Question

Hey everyone,
Looking to change out of my l300 to an 4m40 l400 to enjoy some more creature comforts.
I have searched the towing capacity of the l400 but I was hoping to get some real life experiences when towing with an l400.
I have a 10 foot enclosed tool trailer that will weight about 2500-3500ish lbs when it is loaded. Single axle with no brakes.
Am I crazy in thinking upgrading will make my life and the life of my van any easier?
Cheers

The newer model has more power and is intercooled so will definitely tow better. BUT being a single axle trailer, it's going to put a lot of pressure on your rear springs, you might want to consider air bags or helpers. My biggest concern would be stopping. Out here on the prairies, we have few hills and usually lots of room to stop or accommodate drivers that get in the way. In Vancoocoo you've got some hills (haha), wet roads and lots of traffic. That trailer is going to push you around without brakes. Not fun. Once in a while you could get away with it but if this is your every day setup I'd ideally step up to a tandem axle with brakes.
At the very least, put electric brakes on the trailer. Not too hard to do yourself and would make towing a lot less stressful. One accident would erase any savings of not getting brakes installed.

Cheers for the input Ralph. I was tossing up putting brakes on it for sure. It's tough when you're the only guy on the crew without a full sized pick up... Except where you're pulling them out of the snow!

Even with a bigger truck a trailer can push you around, usually at the worst possible time. The stress of towing a trailer will be a lot less with brakes. People are not considerate so best to protect yourself.
Post a picture of your rig when you can!
