Im getting some fairly extensive work done on the ol'Deli and am thinking I should hit the exhaust system while I am at it. So, wondering what people have found for a good muffler. Im thinking something a little more than the minimum. I saw another post on the subject but didn't really know what I was looking at.
So, looking for more performance, good sound and where do I get it. Any info helps. Thanks
Charles

Re: Performance muffler inquiry
I am not sure that adds much performance, but it does disipate the exhaust a lot faster. It sure does make a ton more noise though, just be prepared. I put a 2 1/2" straight pipe on my last one, and it was real loud. I liked it though, but its not for everyone.delicat wrote:2 1/2" full system with and as free flowing as possible...

Re: Performance muffler inquiry
This is a Diesel engine, back pressure isn't a good thing like on a gas engine... The more free the flow the better but just like noted above it comes with a price as they can get quite noisy.
I think 2 1/2" pipe should be fine but your actual muffler selection will have a greater effect on noise. Muffler could be a straight through pipe (cherry pipe?) which might get pretty noisy. You can get multiple chamber which will take some of the noise down. But if you're lucky you'll find a straight pipe with proper sound dampening and it will be noisier than stock but not as bad as some others. That's all I can offer from past experience where I put a 3" full system on a turbo gas engine and with a straight pipe muffler and the noise wasn't as bad as expected, actually liked it. I'd do mandrel bends...flows even better but could be overkilled on a diesel?
Keep asking...you'll find!
