reliability/parts
hey guys, im looking into getting a delica and was wondering how much of a pain is it to get parts and service done on the thing? this is my option instead of a normal suv (shudder) and im told even simple things like an injector can take weeks to fix just becasue you cant find parts. also how reliable and fuel efficient are these?

Re: reliability/parts
hi, As for parts for delica usually we have some stock but not all, just the main common things that breakdown. i dont know where you got the news for fixing injector that last for 1 week to fix, we can fix it for an hour , mostly those injector need to be clean cause of dirt build-up & doesn"t runs the engine all the time. so the nozzle injector stock when its cold but when warm up, its good as pressure build up.
when its comes for service for your delica we can service no problem,
we have mechanic & parts who knows how to fix this delica.
as for parts sometimes you have to wait for days or weeks depends of availability, even the local one vehicle sometime you have to wait.
this delica is an offshore vehicle, so sometime you have to wait, but its a diesel engine not gas, if you do all the service then you wont have any problem, it last long. as the engine is diesel.
hope this help,
you can e-mail me if you need help& info about this delica
Cheers;

Re: reliability/parts
I have put just about 60,000 km in a year and a half and have only had the alternator die. Everything else has been routine maintenance (glow plugs - maybe not, but the old ones sort of worked). Parts have never really been an issue, even though I don't live near any major centres.

Re: reliability/parts
the reabillity on this delcia is good, no overheating issue, some parts we have, but still cannot tell you that we carry all parts, most of them i carry the parts & other parts or dealer who sells delica. we cannot say 100 % that we carry the parts for delica now. some of them we have to order in japan like anybody here who owns delica.
its just your choice.

Re: reliability/parts
So besides availability of parts,, are the parts really expensive because of the imports?
And since the Delica's are 1990-93 will any parts even be available in 5 years?

Re: reliability/parts
Hi, in regards to parts we can get it as i own a delica super exceed also which i like it very much,
cannot exchange it with a brand new honda oddessy or toyota sienna,
no way.
so you guys dont have to worry, we can get the part. even 10 to 15 yrs from now, we can get it easy from japan or asia no problem.
this Delica could go up to 500 kms it depends on how you maintain it.
its a diesel & also not electronic diesel ,its a simple direct injection pump diesel engine. not like toyota its electronic injector.
the best & reliable engine in the market now for 4 cyl, diesel engine. so nothing to worry. easy to fix

Two things to consider:Nomis wrote:So besides availability of parts,, are the parts really expensive because of the imports?

Mitsubishi only stopped making L300s a few years ago. This is an old-school vehicle, it's simple and it never changed much.
If parts availability was that much of a problem, why do you see so many Delicas around? They appear to be the most popular import. If there was a problem keeping them going, people wouldn't buy them. I know I would not have bought mine.

Re: reliability/parts
Thanks Mardy,,
any one else know, or have anything to say on that?
(price of import parts, for big items compared to other non-imports?)

Re: reliability/parts
Mitsubishi parts tend to be a bit more expensive than the US branded auto parts, even for my Plymouth / Dodge Colt that was the case, but availability is surprisingly good (as long as you have the information) and it's not unreasonably pricey.
