Greetings from Okinawa

Hello Everyone!

I am a new Delica owner living currently living in Okinawa, Japan, but I'll be moving back to the United States either in 2019 or 2023, depending on how I feel in 2019. When that time comes, the Deli will be coming back with me!

I just purchased my van this month! She is a 1992 L300 Super Exceed 2.5L Diesel 4WD in White and Black. With just over 110,000 KM on the odometer, she is relatively low mileage for her age, too. She came equipped with a trailer hitch (or hitch member, as they call it in Japan), Japanese navigation system (which I'm trying to learn how to use since I still live in Japan), and the Crystal Lite roof.

My main goals are to keep her in tip-top shape so that she is 100% fully-functional and all of the expensive fixes have been accomplished by the time I move back to the States. Maintenance work here is cheaper and parts much more widely and easily available than in the United States. Also, super excited to do a lot of the repairs and maintenance work myself. I'll be looking to this forum for advice and suggestions a lot, so thanks in advance!

On that note, if anyone needs anything from Japan, I can do my best to help you out finding it. I am lucky enough to be here and have access to things that other Delica lovers overseas do not have access to.

Good to have you on board. From what I understand, many of the Delica owners in the USA have been getting parts ordered in from Mitsubishi dealerships. Interestingly enough, Mitsubishi Canada will not order parts for us, which is fine as it's started a whole new industry here. Also there is the option of the internet ~ many of our members will order directly from Japan, such as Amayama Trading whom have warehouses in Japan, Russia, Australia and in the UAE. There are many suppliers in western Canada, such as: Rocky Mountain Imports, Maximum Overdrive, CC Autos, Rising Sun Auto Imports, Japanoid, Amazing Autos &c..

That is a beautiful Starwagon you have there and I think '92 is the best year for them (in my humble opinion, owning one myself). I have a question for you: We've been getting them from Japan because after so many years (I think it's 15 yrs) the insurance rates in Japan goes up to (I'm told) exorbitant prices to help stimulate the Japanese economy. Have you found this? If so, have you got around it some how or are you biting the bullet and have deep pockets?
