Auto Transmission Quantity/Type

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Auto Transmission Quantity/Type

Post by joebillhill »

Looking to do an auto trans fluid swap on my 89 4d56. I just want to drop the pan, clean the filter and magnets, and add new fluid Poking around the forum and comparing it to the e manual that i have there is a bit of a discrepancy... I've seen 3.5L posted here, but looking at the technical sheet it says 6.8L.
Also my sheet says to use dexron II but I've also seen dexron III listed on here. Typo? Something that I shouldn't worry about?
Just curious as I don't want to have to figure a way to get a bunk deli all the way up to Canada :-D
Thanks,
Joe

The lower quantity is what will come out when you drop the pan. The higher value includes the amount in the radiators. Most people have just replaced the 4l amount a few times over a 10000 km period and you have basically all new fluid. I thought Dexron III was all you can buy now. I'm sure that's what I've used.
