New PST Rules In Effect Province of BritishColumbia
Hi, new PST rules Start from April 1,2013
in this new rules private consumer will have to pay 12% tax on sale for all private sale transaction.
its come out same as the HST you pay not PST before.
before when we have the PST consumer who sell the vehicle privately pay only 7% of the purchase
price.
to my surprise now it change diff.
consumer has to pay 12% either you purchase car privately or thru any dealer it will be the same.
you will be surprise when you insured your car thru autoplan Broker.
hope this help to learn now what involve in this new PST.
Cheers;
Mardy

Re: New PST Rules In Effect Province of BritishColumbia
The government informed us of this long ago. It's they're way of getting back the money they lost from having to switch back. The same applies to other items like bike accessories that were exempt before and no longer are. We should have stuck with HST.

I expect the dealers are happy about this - eh? Less advantage to buying privately. Thanks Liberals.

I'm surprised! I was told about this not long after the decision was made to switch back. I'll bet you're right Glenn, that does provide incentive to buy new.

The return to pst is crap. Now we have to pay 7% on bullion. Now its going to take me 7% longer to change out all the steel on my Delica with solid gooooooooooold.

Re: New PST Rules In Effect Province of BritishColumbia
its just sad like this as the liberal wants to get the money from hst i think.
they should inform this before the election vote for the pst.
they never say this in there campain only the restaurant and food.
other than that it get worse.
if car price is 50,000 dollar you need to pay 20% on top of it as tax.
hard to live in B.C. Now

Re: New PST Rules In Effect Province of BritishColumbia
I am not sure I could ever justify buying an expensive car as I never want to buy anything new and/or expensive. Buying new feels like I am getting ripped off when it depreciates.nxski wrote:

I would only invest real money in a car if it was something I could turn around and sell for a profit.

Re: New PST Rules In Effect Province of BritishColumbia
Gee, wasn't the referendum to return the tax to the PST as it was prior to the Horrible Sales Tax? I guess that's strike two and a foul ball for the so called Liberals. Perhaps the election is the catcher that catches the foul ball, 'cause the Liberals appear to have dropped it.

Our government has proved they aren't worth the paper I wipe with. It's not as rosy as the "Welcome to Alberta" signs would have you believe.sasquatch-hunter wrote:Let's do a group move to Alberta!
On the other hand though- I would love to see all you cats around here. A Deli-meet of more than one sounds like a lot of fun.

You could all move to the NWT too! only GST up here, and northern living tax benefits, ooooooooh yeah. just dont look at the price of housing, electricity, fuel etc
Food isn't actually that bad, unless you eat out. Oh and our government is whack most days too. I don't think there is a magic solution unfortunately

Re: New PST Rules In Effect Province of BritishColumbia
i still think the BC liberals are trying to wipe out the middle class.
they were SUPPOSED to go back to the old system, not goto a CHANGED system.
i will never buy a home, build a business, or invest in BC until the liberals are GONE, and bc is livable again(what 10 + years to repair all the damage??). i would abandon bc, but bc is really all i know...
