Newbie anxious for Delica adventures

Post by pdgranola »

Just moved to BC this summer and pretty fired up about exploring the west coast. :-D My life pretty much revolves around climbing, Mtn bike and sea kayaking so it seems negligent not to own a Delica out here. I plan to buy one in the next few months after some more research on what model is best, fair price, issues to be aware of...

The plan is to mod the back so I can have 2 second row seats and a bed system that folds up/removes easily when not doing overnighters. I was thinking a tray system under the bed portion that pulls out with all the stowage/tupperware type bins on it.

I have owned a few VW campers in the past but am keen on a diesel, 4x4 and something more functional for the majority of the time when I don't need to crash in it(sleep -crash, not crash -crash)

pdgranola... looks like you're in Victoria so you should join the folks on Saturday:

Sounds like - weather permitting (lol) - there will be more than a couple of vans to look at and get some ideas for your own ride.

Welcome!

Something like this? I didn't get a chance to finish it yet though - the head cracked on my cursed/beloved L300 and now it sits in my driveway waiting for me to put the $2000 + dollars together to fix it. Four rubbermade bins slide in, it made car-camping a snap. I did get to use it last summer when we drove to Yellowstone, and it was awesome.

Anyway, you fit the demographic - have fun!

Thanks for the welcomes. I would have been all over the meet up but I was climbing Arrowsmith. Nice work on the mods Glenn. That is very much what I am thinking. Are you making it removable or it stays in all the time?

How's the climbing up there? I've done some climbing of Arrowsmith...the golf course below the mountain. :-D

LOL, it was awesome. Vis was little low and I had to wade through snow up to my bollocks so I'm afraid the putting greens up top were rendered unusable. :-D
