Rear heater question

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Rear heater question

Post by philmeup1 »

So thanks to the advice on here, I picked up a new thermostat from Rising Sun & I now have a lot more heat coming out of my '93 L300 Deli.

So today I thought I'd check the rear heater and see what the heat was like back there. But there wasn't any. Just cold air blowing out of the vents.

So has anyone had any dealings with this issue by chance??

Cheers, P

The cabin temperature is regulated by it's own controls and not the ones in the cockpit (which are for the cockpit only, except the fan button on the lower right). Also, when the air is blowing in the cabin I have found that top vents only deliver cool air, the bottom vents deliver the warm air. Perhaps you already know this. Then my next guess would be some sort of blockage in the cooling system where the hoses T off (aft end of the motor) to the cabin heater, which is located about two feet forward of the rear right wheel, underneath.

Hope this helps... smiles.

Falco.

Hey Falco,

Thanks for this. I do know the controls are separate front & rear but I didn't know that only the lower vents deliver the heat. I'm going to try this and see if I get heat out the bottom.

As I recall, I did have rear heat when I first got this van and was playing around with stuff. And the heat was coming out by my feet.

Thanks again, Phil

The upper vents are for air conditioning only and the lower vent for heat only. Cheers Jay Tardis Deli

My rear controls let me push hot air down low or up out of the A/C vents

Yeah, I put the vent controls to blow out the bottom and there was tons of heat coming out of the thing. And with the new thermostat installed, I actually had to turn the heat down:)
Nice............

There is a modification that enables that.
