Brake Fluid???

Post by prairiefire »

I'm about to do my front brakes on my L400. I'm wondering how much fluid I need for a flush and bleed. Dot 3 or Dot 4?
Just want to know how much I should have on hand before I start this job.

thanks,

K

L400 Dedicated Category Reference Forum, Look for the manual and there should be a section on fluid specs... happy smiles with a rye corner of the lip.

I did a flush on my Pajero a little while back and it just under a litre, around 850ml to do it. Remember atart at the furthest bleed point then work closer.

3 or 4 doesn't really matter. Just don't use 5.

It's not likely that you'll be driving hard enough to boil the brake fluid.

i think DOT 3 is better for origianl manufacturer application.
DOT 4 is also ok i guess but dont know what will be the outcome might have problem later with all the seal, as DOT 4 is not recommended by Mitsubishi japan for this type of car like L400.
newer year i guess they upgrade it.

Cheers;

DOT 4 is just fine as long as it says it is compatible with DOT 3 on the container. Most DOT 3 and 4 are compatible and will not harm seals.
