lifted delica thoughts?

Wow I have just seen a lifted delica listed at ccauto we site http://ccautos.ca/vehicles/lifted-mitsu ... elica.html should I go buy it? I have been looking everywhere for a "different delica" this could be the one. Give me your thoughts on lifted and standard ride height delicas. It would be so awsome to park this next to a big dodge and be looking down on the little dodge! Looks like from ccautos website that they have great new and used parts for sale to keep this monster trucking!

I've got an L400 with a 5" lift and it is fun! So great looking over the top of escalades, and f350s etc.
You definitely turn heads. My wife got a "thumbs up" from a granny the other day.

Just make sure you have street parking - I overlooked that aspect of things before I bought mine.

I don't have an actual lift on mine, just some Bilstiens, and I still look down on most vehicles out on the roads. I live in Alberta though and there is definately a lot of "over-compensation" going on round here with all the Napoleons in their jacked up rig rockets. I have been humming and hawwing about a lift and have decided it is good enough as is. Any higher and my wife and kid will need a ladder to get in. It looks cool but you can add some aftermarket suspension and do some torsion cranking to acheive that extra little bit. The green lifted one they have is more of the stlye I like. It is high enough without drawing too much attention to it. You will get enough attention just from driving a Delica. Sometimes I feel like I am driving an alien spaceship parade float with the amount of stares and slack jawwed gawking I get

Thornbire tyres are dangerous.

If you buy the van, get rig of them right away sir

traction is not there zero percent on roads, more so wet and rain

Look good like low rider. Very bad performance like bald tyre

2 days ago I had a woman leaning out the window of an F350 making a heart with her hands and mouthing "I love your van" along with many thumbs up's. I would imagine no less when driving that beast around!

Lifted vehicles do have some advantages for sure. Visibility, ground clearance on the trail and on snow covered roads. I think 4x4's look better lifted too. Lets be honest that one looks good!

Now the other side of this coin is as follows:

Fuel economy is reduced due to the large 33inch tires and higher profile in the air column (can't deny the physics here, did the same thing with my Xterra).
Suspension stress is greater and does require more frequent checking of critical parts like ball joints, steering linkage and CV axles. Its not to say a lifted Deli will break or wear sooner but it must be checked far more often for preventive purposes.

Tires.....large knobby tires are noisy. They howl, cup and feather more than less aggressive treads which means tire rotations must be done more often to promote even tread wear and to get the most out of the tread life. Those Thornbird tires on that Delica might have DOT numbers which would make them legal in Canada. If no DOT number then new tires will be order, and Batman is sorta correct Thornbirds suck, but mostly in winter conditions.

Find out more about the lift kit that is in this unit, The group here can tell you what to stay away from in terms of bad lift kits. Bad kits cost big money to fix.

Those tires are fine just get some extra snipping done to them and bring on the snow.
I don't see any twisted control arm

the drop boxes on the rear lower control arms look good but it's hard to tell if the upper arms are adjustable (threaded) or not. If they are, that is a huge plus for road/highway handling.

I have yet to see a lifted L400 from Japan that is 100% solid as a rock but that's not to say there aren't any. They usually skimp on the front end as it requires more work/labor than just fitting a set of coils and spacers in the rear.

I can speak for Thornbirds. Had them on a full size Bronco when I was a teen. They do not ride on the road like a typical tire. Just to say that white knuckles is normal for driving on off camber roads and when the rain hits the pavement, exciting times. Mine were machine sipped.

I think the OP wants an attention getter and this white one would certainly garner that. Looks hot.

This van sure is an attention getter

one of the reasons I agreed to buy it. The lift on the front has both ball joint blocks and sub-frame blocks as well as steering linkage extension. With the experience we have had with lift kits on these vans so long as they have the correct spacers on the front end, the radiator drop adapters and the adjustable panhard rod the alignment can be adjusted easily and drive-ability is maintained. As for the tires, the last lifted van I imported we removed the nobbly tires and installed some 33" BFGoodrich All Terrain`s as the road noise/ grip was useless. With the alignment set and decent tires they can drive very well and it is so satisfying to look down on a 1ton truck

Seriously though, some of the ones coming in from Japan have been lifted correctly, and if anybody can spot that, it's going to be Glen.

Hey,
CCA goes over their vehicles very very thoroughly.
They would take care of everything that needs attention
And then some.
The wear on some of the parts may be a little greater
Than stock setup, but stock is for soup not kickass vans...
