Anyone over 6'5" driving a Delica?
Hello. I was looking to purchase a Delica locally in Winnipeg, alas, cannot find any for sale at the moment. One of my concerns is that I'm rather tall(ish) at 6'5" and wondering if the Delica can accommodate my height comfortably for driving short or long distances.
Any tall owners here able to share their experiences with sight lines and all round comfort of a 1994 or newer L400?
Kevin

MY buddy is 6'6, a firefighter (wide build) and has an L400 high roof. No complaints. He drives long distances often and says fatigue kicks in much later that in his old L300. The seating position is comfortable and laid back instead of being hunched over the wheel. One must have mod is to shave off a section from the kickboard panel at the gas pedal. It's quite narrow.

Hi Kevin,
No worries, I am 6' 7" 225lbs and I have had both the L300 and the L400.
We fit better in the L400 with good head room and leg room. Sight lines are good, no blocked view through windscreen.
It's one of the reasons I bought a Deli, I fit!
Good luck with your search!

I'm 6'6" with a 37" inseam. I did 3 mods to deal with this.
1) Sport Steering wheel
2) 2" hub extension on the wheel
3) Increased seat travel rearward by 3" with some 2"angle iron brackets
The windshield is a little low if I'm honest but you get use to it. My van is a LWB L400, with crystal light. PM me if you want to come have a look as I'm in Wpg as well.

I spoke to the gentleman selling that particular vehicle and it's already sold unfortunately. He did provide me with some very helpful advice about being a Delica owner though.
Thanks for sharing the link. :)

I'm "only" 6'1", and the one issue I have in my high roof L300 is I sometimes have difficulty seeing traffic lights, since they're above the top of the windshield from where I'm sitting. Everything else is fine.
I have to drive with the seat all the way back. I fly with the seat all the way back too. Those long legs...

Let's get the obvious comment out of the way first; you're a lady who's 6'1"? That's totally awesome. :)marsgal42 wrote:I'm "only" 6'1", and the one issue I have in my high roof L300 is I sometimes have difficulty seeing traffic lights, since they're above the top of the windshield from where I'm sitting. Secondly, I hear ya on the window height issue. Most anything I drive, I have to actively duck down when I'm parked at a stop light to see when it changes. Not ideal, but I've learned to live with it and could probably live with it in the Delica too. Ironically, I own a '98 MINI Cooper S Clubman Turbo and I have more driver's space and head clearance than most vans.
Thanks for sharing your experience Laura.
