Introducing Gumdrop

I collected my 1992 Super Exceed from Japanoid Friday after work.

I got an owners manual and service history (the 97000 km on the odometer is legit), from a Mitsubishi dealer in Gunma Prefecture, northwest of Tokyo. All in Japanese, of course, but I can still look at the pictures:

Having done some "let's get acquainted" driving around town this afternoon (that was me driving up Cypress), I can see why people go so nuts over Delicas. This thing is nice. She is begging me to go on a road trip. I'm thinking Inuvik next summer, and certainly the Interior, the Island, Seattle and Portland, in the interim.

Ohhhh, Ahhhhhh, very nice, clean, congratulations!

Looks like it was only used for 5000 kms! - now go get it dirty.

Cheers

Sheesh that thing is clean... mine has less than 95,000km on it but it sure looks like its been trashed. Oh wait maybe thats because I have been driving it for the past 45,000km... but looks isnt everything right? Enjoy your ride, and you are totally on it about the road trips. Ask Kev, these vans are a lifestyle. (I think I'll be quiting my job again soon, anyone up for a December Mexico meet?)

Finally checking the member rides and found your post. You've got a sweet one. We are also trying to plan a trip to Inuvik next summer. It would be a riot to meet up somewhere enroute, or in Inuvik. We could post photos of 2 Delis at 68 degrees north.

Would you then have to change your name to marsgal68? :-D

My usual view on the subject is that anonymous cars should have anonymous plates, so people won't remember that %^&^*^* who cut them off. But a Delica is not anonymous...

I'm still thinking up north next May, though it will be touch-and-go on Inuvik, since the two river crossings on the Dempster Highway may not be open by then.

Just did a search on google and found a site with Dempster Highway info. The relevant quote is: " The Mackenzie River and Arctic Red River ferry is free and operates 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. daily, June to mid-October. Cross by ice bridge in the winter from the end of November until April 30."

I can only do it in July or August due to work. But we'll have to see what happens.
