Hi from Germany

Post by Steinbruchsoldat »

Hi guys,
i`m Julian from Germany. I`ve been to BC the last months and i noticed all the Delica`s around Vancouver. I thought i have to get one and put my Blazer for sale while i was in Canada...

Now i`m returned to Germany and bought a Delica today. It`s a MY1989 with the 2.4l gasoline engine and about 300.000km... It has a few rust spots, but nothing that i couldn`t fix.
I`m going to pick it up on tuesday, and will start a build thread then...

Wilkommen!

Check out the tractor tires on that Blazer! It looks like you put a lot of time and money into that ol' Chevy - your Delica should look awesome by the time you're finished with it.

The central library in your town looks so cool. Is it as neat to be inside it as it is to look at pictures of it?

Yes, i did quite a bit of work to the Blazer. But now it has to go for the L300... But I have some nice plans for the L300, so it should even be better when finished...

To be honest, i`ve never been in the library in Ulm. I don`t live in the city, i live in a small village about 20km from it. So we have another library closer to us. And i don`t really like cities... :?

Welcome to Delica Canada, Steinbruchsoldat :M

I like how the architect used a traditional roof for the library, fits right in... smiles.

Amongst the various useful facets that can be found in Delica Canada there is complete L300 service manual... in Deutsch. It is a PDF and you must contact the original poster (Fexlboi) to procure it. He is currently travelling the Americas and I'm not sure how often he checks his PMs, if you don't get in touch with Fexlboi then PM me.

Thanks. I already tried to contact him a few weeks ago, but he didn`t get back to me. Would be great to get the manual in the "right" language for me. I already downloaded all the english stuff, makes no difference for me...

Btw., maybe your Delica was one of the ones that made me buy one. I spent quite a bit time in North Van and saw a lot of them...

The square headlights are "better" because they are cheaper and easier for us to source. The shaped-lights are more difficult because they were never sold here in North America - you might not have such a difficult time. Also, some would say that more light comes out of the square ones - I found the reflective film behind the projector lens on my old van was beginning to peel and so the projected amount of light was less.

As for the library in Ulm (which is a large pyramid-roofed glass structure, for those who've not looked it up) it was apparently chosen to enhance/contrast the look of the downtown core of the city (it's right next to city hall and a church, which are of mediaeval vintage). A lot of the original buildings from the Middle Ages were bombed into oblivion during WWII, and it was thought that to bring something as timeless as a library back to the city, what could be more timeless than a pyramid?
