I'm looking for a diesle van that i can camperize and drive down logging roads and on highways to do fun outdoor adventrues. My version of camperizing would be pretty light wieght--just taking the back seats out, puting in an ultra light foam bed and maybe a propane stove campstove and a boat fridge.
I'm pretty new to delicas and was wondering if any models worked better than others for doing this type of thing? I was looking at a 95 400L 2.8 automatic that i liked. if anyone had any thoughts on the matter i'd appriciate it. The most important things to me is fuel efficiency and having enough space to camperize. Also i was wondering if any years of delica's were more or less reliable than others?
Thanks
Jen

L400 with the 2.8 will be perfect.
All years are good for the L400 Series 1 (1994 - 1997)
If you are buying from a reputable dealer/seller, then enjoy your vehicle.
If you are not sure about the seller, then pay to get it inspected at a good Delica-friendly service shop. That will be your best money spent.
There are nice one's out there and there are really poor shape (looks great but mechanically in need) underneath.

Re: What Kind of Delica Should I Buy?
search this site lots of debate over the L300 and L400. Newer motor makes more power little more forgiving to maintenance abuse. L400 little more electronic stuff. L300 simpler, less power.
For most people the L400 is the better fit.
Really they both are great trucks. 4X4 and diesel so maintenance costs will be higher. Test drive a few...search the form for answers. Come to the next Mini Meet ask questions. Test drive a few. If you are not MECHANICAL see an independent mechanic.
Love my Delica almost too much.....
