I found this on Victoria Kijiji and wondered if anyone has comments:
"This is a public service announcement regarding changes in diesel fuels, which may affect older diesel vehicles. Low sulphur diesel now being phased in may be incompatible with older vehicles. Buyers of older diesel fuelled vehicles beware. The problem affects the fuel pump. If the pump on your diesel car is defective, suspect the fuel. Fuel pumps can be very expensive to replace. If buying an older diesel fuelled vehicle, ask the seller about any recent incidents regarding the fuel pump. Again, the pumps are very expensive to replace and may fail within a year according to a mechanic I spoke to."

Re: Low sulphur fuels and Delicas
Low sulfur diesel is known to cause the seals in fuel pumps to dry out, leading to leaks. Replacement of the seals with a more compatible material is something you could get a mechanic to do, or you could use an additive to keep the old seals lubricated and in working order.

Re: Low sulphur fuels and Delicas
this not not new information, Your dealer/seller should have told you about this. You NEED to use a fuel Lubricant like raycor or similar. you put about half an oz (ounce) in a fuel tank when you fuel or an oz every other fueling, OH and dont let your tank go down to under a quarter tank of fuel.
The fuel lubricant will boost your cetane level and lubricate the injection pump. Yes its an option but its an option to do that will help keep your injection pump working alot longer.
Its part of the maintinence you need to do with your diesel.
Im going to be selling a couple varietys of fuel lubricant and the price will be discounted for Delica owners.
Im home/web based so my prices are cheaper than most stores as i dont pay for a store front.
I was thinking of having a meeting with owners for oil filters, Lubricants...
AND OH make sure you use a shot/oz of BIOCIDE one a month in your system Diesel fuel breeds a type of bacteria and it will take out your system. one bottle will last you a YEAR.

Re: Low sulphur fuels and Delicas
This has been a well Known issue in Australia for some time and we have several options of additives. The problem seems to be with lubricity of the fuel and when you do have a problem it will generally be with your fuel pump. Here in Australia several members including myself add conola oil to fuel to increase lubricity, not all the time but maybe every few tankfulls. I don't fully endorse this method but it certainly creates no problem and also has a cleaning affect. I definately recomend adding a additive to make up for the lower sulpher.
